A Discovery of Witches concluded with an intense finale of season three on February 18, 2022. The fantasy drama series produced by Bad Wolf and Sky Studios is based on the bestselling novel series called the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness.
The show follows Diana Bishop, played by Teresa Palmer, an Oxford scholar who discovers the long-lost Book of Life also called the Ashmole 782 in the Bodleian Library. We follow her journey as she navigates the complex world in which witches, vampires, and daemons co-exist with humans.
She finds love in Matthew, a vampire, and breaks the strict rules that restrict interspecies relationships, imposed by the Covenant. In the season finale, we witness her fight for her family and her confrontation with the Covenant as she reveals the secret of the Book of Life. She manages to protect herself and everyone she cares about.

Matthew is captured by Benjamin Fuchs and Satu
The acclaimed fantasy show provided an intense drama in the last episode of its third season. Matthew, played by Matthew Goode is abducted by Benjamin Fuchs, with the help of his witch comrade Satu.
Benjamin was turned into a vampire by Matthew but had been disavowed by both Matthew and Phillipe de Clermont. He wanted to fulfill his centuries-old revenge quest by destroying Matthew. On the other hand, Satu was Diana's witch rival and a Congregation member.
They hold Matthew in an old abandoned hospital in Poland and torture him the way Phillipe was tortured during the Second World War. They knew that Diana would be able to find their location and come to rescue her partner in desperation.
However, their plan to lure Diana fails miserably as she first defeats Satu and takes her powers. And then kills Benjamin with her magical arrow serving the justice he deserved.
The Covenant is abolished at the end of A Discovery of Witches
In the finale of A Discovery of Witches, we also get to know the secret of the Book of Life. It is revealed that the reason behind the weakening of witches and the reduction in vampire lifespan is the recession of Daemon DNA.
Daemon DNA is key to everything. It is the reason why Diana and Matthew were able to have children despite coming from different species because they both their common Daemon DNA. But as the Covenant keeps the species of vampires, witches, and humans separate, it is possible that soon they'll go extinct.
Diana takes part in the Congregation as the representative of de Clairmont and reveals the truth to everyone present. Through her magic, a literal tree comes out of the Book of Life and shows how all the species are connected. After the revelation, the Congregation debates for a while but eventually votes in favor of Diana and decides to abolish the Covenant.
Diana and Matthew embrace each other happily in the finale of A Discovery of Witches
After the abolition of the Covenant, the daemon Agatha is elected as the new leader. Now, all the hunted and banished inter-species lovers can live in peace. The penultimate episode of A Discovery of Witches ends with Diana and Matthew dancing and embracing in each other's arms.
All the other characters such as Marcus and Phoebe, Miriam and Chris, and Fernando and Hugh, can move ahead with their lives, embracing their relationships freely as the bigotry has been defeated by love.
Though season three was the end of Diana's story, fans have all the reasons to rejoice as all the threads of the vast story have been joined by the end of the third season.
