The first two episodes of Agatha All Along have premiered on Disney+, and have already given fans a lot to unpack. The story of Agatha Harkness, her witch powers, and the journey she undertakes to reclaim what is hers has already sparked many questions about her place in Marvel's cinematic timeline.

Disclaimer: This article contains spoilers for Agatha All Along.

One of these questions is about the Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff. Since the series is a spinoff from WandaVision, many have wondered whether she will make an appearance.

The last time Wanda was seen on screen, was in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, when the character ended up as an antihero because of her rage, grief, and uncontrollable powers. She collapsed under an ancient wizardry temple during the climax of the film.

Agatha All Along also alludes to the possible character's death in the very first episode. While trapped inside Wanda's mind control spell, Agatha finds a dead body with magical scarring.

In the mortuary, a tag appears on the toe of the body, marking the dead corpse as Wanda Maximoff. Agatha even says that the witch has "scarlet" hair. The many elements in this storyline beg the question: Is Wanda dead?

Tracing Wanda Maximoff's story before Agatha All Along

Wanda Maximoff officially entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe during the film Avengers: Age of Ultron. She possessed a fragment of power from the Mind Stone that allowed her to warp memories, generate fear, and also fight with an energy signature from her hands.

While initially fighting against the Avengers due to her childhood losses in Sokovia, she soon switched sides after knowing the true extent of Ultron's plans. Wanda played a huge role in the battle against Thanos when she was required to destroy the Mind Stone embedded into Vision's body.

This was made difficult due to the fact that she loved him and essentially had to kill him to stop the war. In another twist of tragedy, Wanda's sacrifice did not end up mattering, since Thanos simply used the Time Stone to reverse the damage and take the Mind Stone for himself.

After the final battle in Avengers: Endgame, Wanda secluded herself in the town of Westview with Vision's body. She took the entire town hostage with her mind-control powers, forcing them to play out an alternate reality where she and Vision were a happy family in the suburbs. They even had two children, Billy and Tommy.

However, with forces like Agatha Harkness and S.H.I.E.L.D. working against her, Wanda was forced to give up the alternate reality she had created. She had to banish the magic that let her believe that she was married to Vision and had children. In doing so, Wanda ended up absorbing her nemesis Agatha's power and becoming the Scarlet Witch.

The loss of her children drove Wanda towards the dark side. She started experimenting with spells in an ancient magical book called the Darkhold, making it necessary for Doctor Strange to intervene. In the ensuing battle, Wanda fell, buried under the ruins of the temple she resided in while trying to bring her children back.

What has the show revealed about the character?

As of the first two episodes, Agatha All Along has not revealed much. The opening sequence of the first episode saw Agatha discover a body that seemed like it was a witch. The fingertips of the dead woman were black with magic use. Incidentally, she was wearing a similar tracksuit to the one Wanda wore in the WandaVision finale.

When Agatha visited the body in the mortuary, she noticed the redhead, whom she dubbed "scarlet hair", an allusion to the Scarlet Witch. Further, a name tag appeared on the corpse's toe, labeling her Wanda Maximoff.

By all means, the show seems to indicate that the Earth 616 version of Wanda is now dead and gone, which is why Agatha could break out of her curse. However, with the multiverse theory, it is possible that audiences might get to see another variant of Wanda.

The citizens of Westview seem afraid that even speaking the witch's name might make her return. Perhaps it will, or perhaps she is simply haunting the narrative. Fans also believe that Teen is actually Wiccam a.k.a. Billy Maximoff reincarnated. If so, it gives the showrunners more of a reason to bring Wanda home.
