All Creatures Great and Small season 5 episode 4 airs on MASTERPIECE on PBS next Sunday, February 2, 2025, continuing Tristan Fernon's return to Darrowby and Skeldale House. The previous episode saw Tristan coming back from his post in Cairo after missing all of season 4 and the first two episodes of season 5.
While everyone was ecstatic about him coming back from war, there's one person at Skeldale House who he will be at odds with—Carmody. The young new vet had been missing from the festivities of little Jimmy's christening, so he wasn't there when Tristan arrived. However, he's been staying in Tristan's bedroom during the latter's absence.
They will finally meet next episode, and it won't be a warm meeting between the two. Meanwhile, James, who also recently returned from RAF Abingdon himself, will face some personal and professional challenges in the upcoming All Creatures Great and Small season 5 episode 4.

A brief recap of All Creatures Great and Small season 5 episode 3
All Creatures Great and Small season 5 episode 3, titled Homecoming, saw the return of one of the show's key characters from seasons 1 through 3—Tristran Farnon. He was back from Cairo, where he was stationed at the Royal Army Veterinary Corps.
The last episode also saw little Jimmy's christening, where Mrs. Hall and Siegfried acted as his grandparents. Helen and James also hosted the latter's parents for the event, and while Helen and James' mother were a bit awkward around each other at first, they bonded over a dog James was treating.
Tristan also got the chance to rejoin Siegfried in one of his rounds at Mr. Biggins' farm, tending to a nanny goat, which hadn't seemed to improve despite Siegfriend's prescriptions. It turned out that Biggins never gave his goat the prescription and was only claiming that Siegfried had diagnosed his goat incorrectly to avoid paying for his services and the medicines he was giving.

What to expect in All Creatures Great and Small season 5 episode 4
Carmody was missing in episode 3, which meant he didn't meet Tristan when the latter returned. However, the two will finally meet each other in All Creatures Great and Small season 5 episode 4, Uninvited Guests.
As seen in episode 3, Tristan was shocked to learn that Carmody had been taking over his bedroom in his absence. Per the official synopsis, the two wouldn't be fast friends when they meet. Here's what the logline says about what fans can expect in the upcoming episode 4:
"Tristan's first meeting with Carmody doesn't go quite to plan. They are dispatched to find an animal on the loose in Pumphrey Manor in the hope that they'll be able to put their differences aside. James struggles to heal a sick cow and unresolved feelings about the war re-surface when he least expects them."
