What happened to Lori Roberts?

On October 2, 2009, Lori Roberts was found lying dead on the floor of her bedroom. Her live-in ex-boyfriend, Jeff Silvernail, had dialed 911 around 8:44 a.m. local time to inform the authorities that he had found Lori shot to death. She had suffered a gunshot wound to her chest and neck, per The Jamestown Sun. The gunshot wounds were found to be inflicted by a 9mm handgun.

Because Silvernail was the last person to see Lori alive and call in the authorities, her close ones suspected him of the tragedy. Jeff had been in the process of moving out of Lori's residence. According to his alibi, Jeff had left the house around 3 a.m. local time and had returned early in the morning to pack some of his belongings.

He mentioned he entered the house to find Lori's body naked waist down. As the investigations began, authorities found a spot of blood on Silvernail's pants, which matched Lori's DNA. Another blood sample in Lori's 1991 GMC pickup truck resulted positive as well. According to the Wahpeton Daily News, authorities took Jeff Silvernail into custody on May 24, 2010.
