The murder of the mother of three, Diane Malone, in Long Beach led to the arrest of her former husband, David Malone. Diane had been moving on with her life after her separation from her husband, David when he returned to her life and stabbed her to death.

How was David Malone arrested?
The mother of three, Diane Malone, was found stabbed to death in her bedroom on September 13, 2004. According to LiHerald, Diane was stabbed as many as 13 times, with one of them aimed at her heart. As the 32-year-old was found lying in a pool of her blood, the investigations by the Long Beach Police Department began.
The officers at the crime scene also determined that she had been bludgeoned to death. It did not take long for the authorities to narrow down their suspicion of Diane's estranged husband, David Malone. The couple had been married for six long years with three children, but their married life was difficult owing to domestic violence.
While David's appearance made him seem like a regular person, David and Diane's neighbors mentioned that he would get extremely jealous around Diane. Witnesses were also suspicious about physical abuse as the neighbours mentioned the possibility of him hitting Diane.
According to the New York Times, the couple had broken up multiple times before they were separated unofficially while Diane obtained a restraining order against David. Diane had started seeing someone, which allegedly made David jealous and led to her murder.
After David stabbed Diane to death, he fled the crime scene on foot, leaving her bleeding body in the house with their three children. He took shelter two blocks away in an empty Wisconsin Street and was found on Beach Street four days later.
Where is David Malone now?
David Malone (35) was arrested on September 16, 2004, and charged with Diane Malone's murder to which he had initially pled not guilty. However, he reportedly changed his approach and pled guilty in August 2005 in exchange for a better deal, per the LiHerald.
David apologized for his crimes and shared during his hearing:
“I do not recognize the man I was that night. He was certainly not the man who loved his wife and children with all his heart and soul."
David was sentenced to 17 years to life in prison in October 2005 with the possibility of parole after 17 years, according to the New York Post. He is presently serving his time and awaiting a parole eligibility date at the NYSDOC Ulster Correctional Facility in Napanoch, New York.
