After some months of speculation, Sugar season 2 is finally happening. The acclaimed, but underrated, Apple TV+ drama has been renewed for a second season as per the latest announcement from the streamer.

The Mark Protosevich-created series received significant acclaim upon its premiere earlier this year. It will now continue the fascinating story going forward in the second season, which is expected to arrive sometime in 2025.

As per Apple TV+'s press release, the series will also see the brilliant Colin Farrell return for his role of John Sugar. In Apple TV's press release, executive producers Audrey Chon and Simon Kinberg said:

"It has been incredibly exciting to see audiences around the world embrace ‘Sugar,’ and we are thrilled to return for a second season,...We’re so grateful to our partners at Apple for their support, our showrunner Sam Catlin, the brilliant Colin Farrell, and of course, our viewers. We can’t wait to get John Sugar back on the case."

The news of renewal was also greeted with immense excitement from fans across the world, who were more than glad that Sugar season 2 was happening.

While details about the upcoming second season remain under wraps, it has already started sparking excitement across social media.

"I've been waiting so long for this" - Fans celebrate Sugar season 2 renewal

Perhaps because many of the lesser-known, but well-made, shows were canceled over the last two years, many fans of this show were worried about its future. But with the recent announcement, Apple TV+ has assured its fanbase that it will continue to support good quality content.

X user @yasmiinxsilva summed up the emotion of the fans, saying:

"I've been waiting so long for this🙈"

Other fans also had similar things to add to that.

"Yessss! Can't wait for more Detective Sugar!"- another fan added.
"Congrats to the cast and crew of 'SUGAR' on their well-deserved Season 2 renewal.."- yet another fan commented.

The series perhaps earned such a good reputation because of its approach to detective stories. While it sticks to the tried-and-tested classic format, it also puts a contemporary twist on the story, leading to a highly appealing experience.
