What to expect from Sunny

Based on Colin O'Sullivan's The Dark Manual, Sunny follows Suzie (Rashida Jones), an American woman who married Masa Sakamoto (Hidetoshi Nishijima), a roboticist at Imatech. However, tragedy strikes when she loses her husband and son in a plane crash.

An Imatech representative named Yuki Tanaka (Jun Kunimura) proceeds to gift Suzie a domestic robot called Sunny (Joanna Sotomura), ostensibly to help her through her grief.

However, Suzie initially resents the robot and grows suspicious of Imatech's true motives. This suspicion is further bolstered when she hears rumors of a mysterious manual that can allow her to override the robot altogether.

Unable to resist the temptation, Suzie finds herself dragged into a deadly plot that explores themes of AI sentience, dealing with loss and grief, and what it truly means to connect with others.
