The Acolyte transports us to an era of Star Wars never before seen in live-action, set 100 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.
The show takes place in the High Republic Era, a time when the Jedi operate in peace and prosperity. However, in the first two episodes, the series takes a dark turn as Jedi are being murdered, prompting Jedi Master Sol (played by Lee Jung-jae) to investigate.
It is revealed in the premiere that Mae (played by Amandla Stenberg) is responsible for the deaths of the Jedi and shares a complicated history with them, having been presumed dead.
Mae also has a twin sister in The Acolyte whose name is Osha, and she was a former Jedi Padawan who later left the order to become a mechanic. But the way that the show has framed their relationship, it certainly looks like the writers are alluding to the fact that Mae and Osha together are a Force Dyad - two beings who are seen as one in the Force.
How does The Acolyte allude that Osha and Mae are a Force Dyad?
A Force Dyad is an extremely rare occurrence in the Star Wars universe. In the case of Osha and Mae, it looks like the two are bonded by the Force as the former kept having visions of her sister in the first two episodes of the show - and was also how she realized that her twin was alive. With Osha being on the light side and Mae on the dark side of the force, and them communicating through it, it certainly hints at them being possible Dyads.
These scenes in particular were reminiscent of the scenes that were shared by Rey and Kylo Ren in Star Wars: Episode 8 - The Last Jedi and Star Wars: Episode 9 - The Rise of Skywalker. In these episodes, Rey and Kylo were able to communicate with each other through the force, and shared a special bond that could only be shared by two beings connected in the force.
The concept itself was introduced in the Sequel Trilogy, and with The Acolyte possibly exploring it more, it certainly looks like writer and creator Leslye Headland very much wants to explore the deeper aspect of the force. Given that Star Wars: Episode 9 - The Rise of Skywalker couldn't explore this concept further due to it having a limited runtime, a show is a perfect way to expand upon that idea.

What to expect from The Acolyte going forward?
With The Acolyte set to premiere its third episode soon, we can expect to learn more about Osha and Mae's past and how they are connected to each other within the Force. With Mae being presumed dead and also possibly being responsible for burning her home which caused the death of her family, it certainly looks like the show is going to focus further on how she came back all these years later with a Sith master by her side.
Not to mention, what's the reason behind Mae killing the Jedi as well. With her already having claimed the lives of 2, it certainly begs the question of what history she has with them that led to such immense hatred.
