Baby Fever is a Danish medical drama series that was created by Amalie Naesby Fick. It is a six-episode comedy-drama that revolves around Nana Jessen (Josephine Park), a fertility doctor. It shows how a single blunder turns her life upside down. She was very happy with her single life until she started experiencing a fear that she may not be able to have a baby in her life.

The show was released on Netflix on June 8, 2022. The series is produced by Apple Tree Productions. Besides Baby Fever, they have produced many acclaimed titles such as Blackwater, Chorus Girls, Equinox, and One of the Boys. The first season ended with Nana going on her maternity leave after she gave birth to her baby.

Baby Fever Season 1 takes us through the journey of Nana who, in a drunken state, inseminates herself with the sperm of her ex-boyfriend Mathias. With the fear that she would never have a baby, she makes this mistake. Season 1 takes around how this decision affects her life and the lives of the people around her.

Baby Fever Season 1 Recap

Nana is a successful fertility doctor who has a strong and loyal customer base. She helps her patients get pregnant and comforts them. Most of her patients come with various complications and she tries to solve their problems. Even though she has a successful career, she is very unhappy in her personal life.

Nana is almost in her 40's and wants to have a baby. But she is unaware whether she will be a good mother or not. She conducts some tests and finds out that she only has three follicles left in her body. She has very little time left to get pregnant.

Upset Nana is comforted by the hospital receptionist, Simone who is also Nana's best friend. She told her not to worry and do what her instincts tell her to do. Few days later, Nana bumps into her ex-boyfriend Mathias just outside her hospital.

Nana and Mathias had not met in seven years. He had come to make a deposit in the sperm bank. But their meeting was awkward since Nana stood him up at the last minute. Mathias felt heartbroken and dejected since he waited for her for seven hours. Nana was embarrassed to bump into him but she was also excited since there was a possibility of having a fling with Mathias.

But Mathias felt that she would dump him once again when things got serious. They shared an intimate moment but Mathias decided to end things right away. That night, Nana went back to the fertility clinic and got drunk, with Simone in the hospital.

She made a mistake in her drunken state and broke into the sperm bank. She inseminated herself with Mathias' sperm samples. News broke that someone broke into the sperm bank late at night and next day the person who was in charge of the samples complained about the issue to Helle, Nana's boss.

Simone was on duty that night and she asked Nana to turn on the alarm in the sperm bank in the drunken state. But Nana created the blunder instead of turning on the alarm. Simone didn't remember anything from the night earlier and Nana was saved from the blame. But she felt guilty since her friend had to go through the burden of the blame.

Earlier before meeting Mathias, Nana was dating her colleague Soren who worked as a physiotherapist at the fertitly clinic. But soon after she met Mathias, she started ignoring Soren. But once she realized that Mathias was not interested in her, she went back to Soren. But soon after, Mathias comes down to meet her.

Throughout the season, Nana struggles with the secret of her pregnancy, especially since Mathias is unaware of what she had done. In the end of Baby Fever Season 1, Simone tells Soren that Nana is pregnant. When Soren goes to confront Nana whether the baby is his or not, he sees her talking to Mathias. Soren asks her about the pregnancy which offends both the men and she is stuck in a mess. In the end, Nana is seen going for her maternity leave after delivering a baby.
