Bad Sisters concluded its second season with the eighth and final episode airing on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, ahead of Christmas Day. The Irish dark comedy follows the five close-knit Garvey sisters, Eva, Grace, Ursula, Bibi, and Becka, who get into a series of murderous plots against Grace's abusive husband, John Paul.
The first season of the series was released in 2022, ending with JP dying out of the blue— or at least that's how it looked for Eva, Ursula, Bibi, and Becka. The sisters got in the crosshairs with the insurance agency hell-bent on proving that they committed the murder. Meanwhile, Grace knew what happened.
Bad Sisters was renewed for a second season, releasing in November 2024, to continue the Garveys' story long after JP's death. Grace has a new husband, but the sophomore season killed her off in the second episode, putting the mystery of her death at the forefront of the rest of the season's core plot lines.
With two seasons of blended family drama, dark comedy, and crime thriller, here is the list of the soundtracks that brought nerve-snapping tension and emotions throughout the two seasons of Bad Sisters.
Bad Sisters' theme song is Who By Water by PJ Harvey
Series creator and star Sharon Horgan worked with PJ Harvey to create the opening title theme song for the Apple TV+ dark comedy series Bad Sisters, which was a cover of Leonard Cohen's Who By Fire. Harvey teamed up with composer Tim Phillips for the track, which Horgan said was an "amazing version" for the series. She told NME on July 1, 2022:
"One of the things I'd been thinking of was to do a cover of 'Who by Fire' by Leonard Cohen and I thought Polly [PJ, aka Polly Jean Harvey] would do the most amazing version of that. It lists all these different deaths in the song, which people will understand when they finally see Bad Sisters."
As for working with Harvey for Bad Sister's theme song, Phillips mentioned creating a new instrument they called "The Pollytron." He said during Deadline's Sound & Screen: Television event, per Deadline on May 11, 2023:
"We came up with an ulterior plan which ended up becoming the sound of the show which was to build her into a huge series of sampler instruments which she then named the Pollytron."
Harvey uses a Bulgarian style of singing throughout the score of the episodes in Bad Sisters.
