Outlander has been facing a lot of negative feedback online lately. However, this time, the critiques aren't about the plot or specific characters—it's the wigs. Viewers who haven't been following the show from the start might not even realize these changes.

Fans are calling out Outlander's makeup and hair department for the wigs used in the latest season, claiming that they distract from whatever is happening on screen. They have taken to social media to discuss this distinctive aspect of the show. The discussions surrounding this topic are quite lively, especially on Reddit.

"I’ve noticed several bad wigs this season, too, and it’s distracting," wrote one user.
"Every extra has the exact same hairline! Just straight across the forehead. No variation, it’s kind of funny. Can’t they just let some people be bald? There had to be bald people back then," wrote another user.
"I’m currently rewatching, at season 4 and I have been so distracted by the bad wigs. Mainly Claire, with her perfectly round hairline... Then I noticed Ian has the same hairline… Then couldn’t stop staring at Jocasta’s hairline… then realised Jamie has a red toupee added to his natural hair to create his scruffy fringe," wrote yet another.

That said, some people have mentioned that they hadn't noticed the bad wigs in earlier seasons, but this time they found it particularly disturbing. They went into the specificities of the instances in the show's current season while discussing it.

"... Season 7b.. this is the first time that I am noticing various characters with awful wigs! The hair lines are just so bad they don't even look like they fit properly. Ian being one example with his white hair wig. Even Claire's in a few scenes. I think Jenny may have been the worst. Am I the only one who has noticed this? What is the deal with that?" wrote the user who started the whole thread about the wigs.
"I had never noticed the wigs before. Then I saw comments on Jenny and Brianna's wigs, and now I'm seeing it all the time. Jenny's is objectively awful. In the last episode, even Claire's seemed bad. I never noticed it before and am due for a rewatch. I'm interested to see if they've always been bad, and I just never paid attention, or if it's a recent thing," wrote one user.
"This is the first season I ever noticed it. Yeah Jenny's was probably the worst if I had to pick one," wrote another user.

How many episodes are there in Outlander season 7?

Outlander season 7 is being released in two parts. The first part, consisting of eight episodes, aired from June 16, 2023, to August 11, 2023. Meanwhile, the first episode of the second part premiered on November 22, 2024, and will have eight episodes as well. The season is set to wrap up on January 17, 2025.

Outlander has already been renewed for an eighth and final season. The show is expected to have 10 episodes. Fans of the show anticipate it to go into production sometime in 2024, given its previous filming timelines. This means that the show would not be released before 2025.

That said, for those who are new to the historical drama television series, Outlander centers on Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945, who is mysteriously transported back to 1743.

She is quickly plunged into a dangerous and unfamiliar world. The circumstances around her force her to marry Jamie Fraser, a brave and romantic young Scottish warrior. However, things are complicated by the emergence of a passionate relationship between her and another man who is not her husband. This causes Claire to struggle between two distinct men and two incompatible lives.

Outlander season 7 is currently streaming on Starz.
