Blood Legacy Season 1 is an upcoming 20-episode South African Netflix series that will premiere on September 20. The series stars Xolile Tshabalala as Khanyi Adesina, the daughter of a business magnate. Her father, the head of Spear Industries, invites her back by offering her the position of CEO. He claims to want her as a leader to purge the company of corruption.
Khanyi's arrival massively shakes up the Ndlovu family dynamics. She encounters hostility from her other siblings, who feel entitled to lead the company over her thanks to being in the game for so much longer. The simmering tensions boil over after the Spear Industries CEO is found dead in the sugarcane fields, setting the war of succession into overdrive.
As Khanyi finds herself embroiled in the cloak-and-dagger world of corporate espionage, will she be able to remain true to herself, or will the corporate world transform her into a different person entirely?

Blood Legacy Season 1's cast has spoken about the show
On September 12, 2024, Truelove Magazine hosted an interview with the cast members of Netflix's Blood Legacy Season 1. These included Xolile Tshabalala, who played Khanyisile Adesina, Buyile Mdladla, who played Mandla Ndlovu, and Mike Ndlangamandla, who played Siya Ndlovu.
Speaking about her character, Xolile Tshabalala praised Khanyisile for being multifaceted and the gradual change she undergoes in her personality. As she put it:
"One minute you can see her vulnerability then when the fire – I mean, she’s a slow burn. She doesn’t just suddenly become this powerful person. She starts easy and she loves her kids, she loves her husband. Life happens, somebody else comes along."
Xolile Tshabalala was also drawn to the family dynamic of the series, having been an only child who grew up with her mother and grandmother. When speaking of her interactions with the cast of the series, she considered them a found family for her. This included Connie Chiume, who died after the series' production and played the Ndlovu matriarch.
Buyile Mdladla considered his character, who's the elder sibling, to be relatively unscrupulous and ruthless. Driven by an unceasing ambition to do whatever it takes for himself and his family's legacy, this man will stop at nothing. As Buyile puts it:
"The big brother is someone who obviously has no ethical considerations in his business dealings, unscrupulous. But all of that is for a reason, right. There’s some method in that madness, which most people do not get."
Mike Ndlangamandla, who plays Siya Ndlovu, said that his character loves both his siblings because he sees what they bring to the table. This allows him to appear above the fray and in between the two extremes.
Blood Legacy Season 1 is an upcoming production by South Africa's Gambit Films. The 20-episode series will be released on Netflix on September 20, 2024.
