Breathless (TV Series 2024): Full list of cast in the series

Netflix's Breathless is a Spanish drama series based on the events in a hospital, aired on the streaming platform on Friday, 30 August 2024. The Spanish writer and filmmaker Carlos Montero Castiñeira created the series of eight episodes. Marta Font and David Pinillo directed Breathless, and Castiñeira himself co-wrote the script along with Carlos Ruano, Guillermo Escribano, and Pablo Saiz.

The series is based on the events surrounding the Joaquín Sorolla public hospital located in Valencia, Spain. Biel is a medical practitioner who has dedicated his entire life to becoming a skilful doctor who could save the lives of as many patients as he possibly could. However, when a general strike of medical workers takes place, doctors must choose whether they want to be part of it or stay true to their profession.

1) Manu Rios as Biel

Manu Rios plays the role of Biel, the central protagonist in the series. He is a passionate medical practitioner, who dedicates all his will towards saving the patients in Joaquín Sorolla public hospital.

Manu is both an actor and a singer, and he is most popularly known on the screens for his role as Patrick Blanco in Netflix's Spanish teen drama series Elite. Manu has made other Spanish television appearances in shows including Chiringuito de Pepe (2014), Mute (2023), and La edad de la ira (2022).

2) Blanca Suárez as Jésica

Blanca Suárez plays the role of Jésica, a doctor working in the hospital, and the co-worker of Biel. Despite their age and surrounding differences, they end up forming a bond with each other amidst the chaos.

Blanca is a Spanish actress, who made her debut with the 2008 Spanish horror movie Shiver. She got recognition for her work in the two teen series, The Boarding School (2007) and The Boat (2011). She was nominated for Goya Award, for her role as Norma Ledgard in Pedro Almodóvar's 2011 thriller The Skin I Live In starring Antonio Banderas.

3) Borja Luna as Néstor

Borja Luna plays the role of Néstor, one of the doctors in the hospital, who tries hard to save lives amidst the difficulties in the strikes. Borja is a Spanish actor who has made small appearances in television series including Central Hospital (2000), and I am Bea (2006) an adaptation of I'm Betty the Ugly.

Borja is noted for his role as Louis XII of France in the historical series Isabel (2012). His recent television appearances include No Traces (2023) and Untameable (2023).

4) Najwa Nimri as Patricia Segura

Najwa Nimri takes up the role of Patricia Segura, the president of Spain. Her life takes an unexpected turn when a lump is found in her chest that could potentially indicate a tumour or in the worst case, a cancer.

Najwa is a Spanish actress and singer, who formed the musical duo Najwajean with the Spanish DJ and record producer Carlos Jean. She first made her acting debut with the movie Passengers (1996), which was followed by movies like Blinded (1997), Open Your Eyes (1997), Sex and Lucia (2001), and Lovers of the Arctic Circle (1998). In 2019, she joined the cast of Money Heist (2017), playing the role of Alicia Sierra.
