SNL, the live sketch comedy variety show created by Lorne Michaels and developed by Dick Ebersol and Michaels. The show debuted on NBC on October 11, 1975, and is currently airing its 50th season, which premiered on September 28, 2024.

Since its debut, SNL has aired more than 970 episodes and is among the longest-running network television programs in the country. It has become a staple of late-night television and has won several accolades, including 84 Primetime Emmy Awards.

The show starts with a cold opening segment, followed by a humorous monologue delivered by the episode's host, numerous comedy sketches that parody American culture and politics, and ends with a performance by a musical guest. SNL is filmed at Studio 8H in the Comcast Building located at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

The show's season 50 premiered on September 28, 2024, at 11:30 p.m. ET (or 8:30 p.m. PT) on NBC. The comedy series can be watched live online on Peacock, the official streaming service of NBC.

In addition to watching the latest season live, the previous 49 seasons of Saturday Night Live can also be viewed on-demand on Peacock.

Viewers can subscribe to Peacock with one of two subscription plans. The Peacock Premium plan (with ads) costs $7.99 per month while the Peacock Premium Plus plan (ad-free) costs $13.99 per month.

Additionally, there are other cable-free options to watch the comedy sketch series.

The live TV streaming service YouTube TV offers access to NBC for the monthly fee of $72.99. Secondly, Hulu + Live TV is another option for viewers to watch SNL live as the streaming service includes access to 90 live and on-demand channels, including NBC.

The plan costs $76.99 per month but will increase to $82.99 per month from October 17, 2024.

DirecTV Stream gives subscribers access to NBC and comes with a five-day free trial period. Its various packages start from $69.99 per month.

Sling TV and FuboTV also offer viewers a way to watch NBC shows without having cable. Sling's Blue plan costs $45 per month and FuboTV offers a seven-day free trial when you sign up for one of its plans.


SNL premiered its milestone season 50 in September 2024

Jean Smart, the Emmy award-winning actress from Hacks, hosted season 50's first episode alongside the musical guest, Jelly Roll.

The show's October line-up includes, among others, comedian Nate Bargatze as the host and Coldplay as the musical guest.

Other high-profile celebrities set to appear on the show are Ariana Grande and Stevie Nicks on October 12, Michael Keaton and Billie Eilish on October 19, and John Mulaney and Chappell Roan on November 2.

For the show's season 50, Michael Che and Colin Jost return as co-hosts of the popular segment, Weekend Update.

This season also features regular cast members like Heidi Gardner, Kenan Thompson, Chloe Fineman, Marcello Hernandez, Sarah Sherman, Mikey Day, Bowen Yang, Ego Nwodim, James Austin Johnson, Andrew Dismukes, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker.

Moreover, Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim, and Jane Wickline are the new faces set to appear as featured players for the show's landmark season.
