Caught in the Web: The Murders Behind Zona Divas is Netflix's newly released docuseries. It explores how many women seeking better lives accidentally become part of an online escort service. The series explores how an online prostitution racket became the reason behind the murders of many of these women.

The series explores how the Zona Divas website operated and preyed upon unsuspecting women. It had testimonials and voices of a few women who managed to escape from the network.

Caught in the Web is based on the real-life Zona Divas murders, which happened when the portal was launched in 2010. The website was a marketplace for escorts, where anyone could contact them.

The Zona Divas website recruited women who came from neighboring South American countries, in search of a better life. The site would promise them honest work but then rope them into the escort service, which they would have to comply with.

These women faced both physical exploitation and financial extortion at the hands of the website, which was explored through many interviews and archival voice samples in the documentary.

Caught in the Web interviews a few women who somehow survived the crimes that they were subjected to. Women like Brenda and Candice spoke about how they were under extreme financial pressure when they were contacted by recruiters. They left Argentina and Colombia respectively, thinking that Zona Divas was an official workplace.

They mentioned that leaving Zona Divas was difficult, since the recruiters kept them all housed together in a small apartment. Soon, more tragedy came for these women, when five of them were murdered by their clients in separate locations.

The series also explores the aftermath of the murders, when the Mexican police and law enforcement were brought in. However, they were skeptical to arrest the suspects, and often viewed the trafficked women with suspicion.

The Zona Divas website was finally shut down, but Soni (one of the people behind it) went free. Many allege that he started a new website that did not gain as many recruits. Caught in the Web: The Murders Behind Zona Divas is a heart-wrenching account of the absence of true justice for these women.
