Chicago Fire season 13 features both old and new characters
Chicago Fire has undergone significant cast turnover over its lengthy tenure on American television. The thirteenth season features both long-standing and new cast members.
When it comes to returning cast members, there is Lt. Kelly Severide, played by Taylor Kinney. Lt. Kelly has been part of Chicago Fire since the series premiere. He is the lieutenant in Firehouse 51, where he's in charge of leading Squad 3.
When Wallace Boden was Battalion Chief, Kelly was third in the chain of command. His father used to be a firefighter named Benny Severide, establishing that the career ran in the family.
Other returning characters include Senior Firefighter Christopher Hermann, played by David Eigenberg, who eventually earned a promotion to lieutenant in the season 7 episode Thirty Percent Sleight of Hand. From that point on, he served as the fourth officer in the chain of command.
Senior Firefighter Randall "Mouch" McHolland has been a part of Chicago Fire since the first season. He serves as the CPD's legal representative and gained the nickname "Mouch" due to his tendency to be a couch potato when not on call.
New characters introduced in season 13 include Battalion Chief Dom Pascal, who replaced Wallace Boden after the latter's promotion to the Deputy Commissioner of the CPD. Dom Pascal shows himself to be incredibly courageous and willing to risk himself for the mission's sake.
His management style is relatively by-the-book compared to Wallace Boden, with him restricting cellphone use during team lunches and providing greater scrutiny towards family members working on the same station and shift.
Aside from Chicago Fire, numerous series are under NBC's One Chicago umbrella, including Chicago PD, Chicago Med, and Chicago Justice. Fans can stream new episodes of Chicago Fire Season 13 every Wednesday on NBC.
