Chicago Med season 9 premiered on NBC on January 17, 2024, with the episode titled Row Row Row Your Boat on a Rocky Sea. It ended on May 22, 2024, and the show has been renewed for a tenth season, which will premiere on September 25, 2024.

Chicago Meds is a medical drama series that primarily follows the medical staff of the fictional Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. The doctors and nurses of the emergency department handle intense cases in each episode, which often challenges them medically and emotionally. The series is the third installment of the Chicago franchise, which also includes Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.

Chicago Med season 9 ended with the emotional and dramatic episode titled, I Think I Know You, but Do I Really? The episode concluded some of the individual journeys of the characters for the season like Dr. Archer and Dr. Goodwin, while it also left a cliffhanger on Dr. Marcel's fate.

The doctors and nurses of the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center E.D hardly get time to relax. Season 9 was no different in terms of the intensity of cases that the staff had to deal with.

The thirteen-episode season started with the treatment of patients from a crash, and treating whom required the help of the entire team. Dr. Marcel spends a significant amount of time and energy behind the new resident Dr. Zola Ahmad, who has a knack for breaking hospital protocol initially.

From miscarriage to OCD, and cancer to dementia, the doctors have to deal with everything, while going through personal struggles, which all culminate in an emotional and powerful finale.

The chaos of the Chicago Med season finale titled I Think I Know You, But Do I Really? provided a thrill ride for the viewers but was equally emotional as characters had to face their past demons and suffer incredible personal losses.

Dr. Dean Archer's treatment of Dustin, a drug addict, made him confront his own history of addiction, as it wrecked his relationship with his son. The relationship of Dr. Hannah Asher and Dr. Mitch Ripley took a significant blow, as they had an intense disagreement on how a patient was being handled.

Dr. Goodwin had to make a difficult decision regarding Bert, who was suffering from dementia. She deals with her choice of placing him in a care facility. The toughest fate perhaps fell upon Dr. Crockett Marcel, whose child patient couldn't receive a liver transplant and died of an infection. Later, the child's father took his own life, out of grief.

This devastating double blow took an emotional toll on him, and he decided to take a leave from the hospital. It's unclear if the character will be back in the upcoming season as a guest appearance.
