Is the show available for streaming?

Chimp Crazy Season 1 is available for streaming on Max, HBO's affiliated streaming service. As of writing this article, the first two episodes of the show have already been added to the streaming service, while the remaining two episodes are awaiting release.

Besides Max, there are other streaming platforms containing episodes of the show which include Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, and YouTube TV. This implies that when new episodes of the show drop on Max, they will simultaneously be released on these platforms.

Almost all of these platforms require users to take additional Max subscriptions over their standard platform subscriptions. For instance, if you are keen on watching an episode of the show on Amazon Prime Video or Hulu then you will be required to take an additional Max subscription, starting at $9.99 a month.

About the show

Chimp Crazy Season 1 is written by Eric Goode, Jeremy McBride, Evan Wise, Tim Moran, Charles Divak, Adrienne Gits, and Doug Abel and directed by Eric Goode. It is produced by Lissa Rivera, Carissa Ridgeway, Evan Wise, Adrienne Gits, Charles Divak, Tim Moran, Doug Abel, James Liu, and Dwayne Cunningham. It was produced under the banner of HBO Documentary Films and Goode Films.

The official synopsis for the show from HBO reads:

"Former nurse-turned-exotic-animal-broker Tonia Haddix, who refers to herself as the “Dolly Parton of chimps,” spends her days caring for animals in captivity. However, her limitless love for one chimpanzee spins into a wild cat-and-mouse game with authorities and an animal rights group."

It continues:

"Through the experiences of Tonia and other “chimp moms,” Chimp Crazy reveals the bonds between owners and their highly intelligent great ape pets, the risks humans take when they raise these animals as members of their family, and the risks to the welfare of the animals themselves."

Eric Goode, the writer and director of Chimp Crazy Season 1, also directed the Tiger King series, which is currently streaming on Netflix. For those unfamiliar, the documentary series dives into the life of zookeeper and convicted felon Joe Exotic, who was accused of abusing wild animals, specifically tigers.

Even though the first season of the show received a huge response from the audience, its second and third seasons were not as well received. If Season 1 of Chimp Crazy does well with audiences, there is a possibility that it could continue as a series.
