Citadel: Honey Bunny is the India-based spin-off of Amazon Prime Video's Citadel franchise. The espionage cinematic universe premiered on April 28, 2023, with the original Citadel series that starred Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden.

The Citadel franchise follows interconnected plotlines of the Citadel shadow spy network, which has branches and operations in numerous countries and is being hunted down by the villainous Manticore syndicate. Aside from Citadel: Honey Bunny, which is set to premiere on November 7, an Italian spin-off called Citadel: Diana recently premiered on October 10, 2024.

Citadel: Honey Bunny is notable for its casting of up-and-coming as well as established actors in leading roles. This show acts as a prequel to the main Citadel series and features younger versions of Nadia Sinh and Dahlia Archer. The full cast list of the upcoming series is detailed below.

Rahi Gambhir is a stuntman who crosses paths with an actress and joins her on a side gig. This gig eventually ropes them into a dangerous world of deceit and betrayal. The two go on to have a daughter together, Nadia, but after their past catches up with them, they must team up to save her from their enemies.

Varun Dhawan debuted as an actor in Karan Johar's Student of the Year. Since then, he has gained prominence as one of Bollywood's rising stars, with roles in films such as Dilwale, Dishoom, and ABCD 2.

Honey is the actress Rahi recruits for what appears to be a side job, which then spirals into something much more. She initially lies to her daughter about being nothing more than an actress until her past catches up to her.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu debuted in Telegu cinema in 2010 with Ye Maaya Chesave. She has previously worked with Amazon Prime Video for the 2021 series The Family Man.

Emma Canning as Dahlia Archer

Dahlia Archer was the primary antagonist in the first season of the original Citadel. She was one of the leading figures behind the malevolent Manticore agency. Further, the season 1 finale revealed that she was the mother of Mason Kane, and manipulated him into revealing confidential details about the Citadel agency.

Due to its nature as a prequel, the upcoming series will focus on Dahlia Archer's time as a younger woman. Dahlia's actress, Emma Canning, is also set to appear in Dune: Prophecy.

Aside from Italy's Citadel: Diana and India's Citadel: Honey Bunny, the espionage intellectual property has other spin-offs planned as well. These will be set in Spain and Mexico.

Like with Diana and Honey Bunny, these spin-offs will be broadcast in the native languages of their respective countries. Meanwhile, the main American series was renewed for a second season on March 14, 2023, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
