Creature Commandos episode 3 ending explained: Who dies in the DC animated show?

Creature Commandos episode 3 premiered on Max on December 12, 2024, and focused more on the backstory of G.I. Robot. Titled Cheers to the Tin Man, the episode focuses on the titular group as they rush to the rescue of The Bride and Nina Mazursky who have been taken in by Circe. However, a lot goes down that helps set up the upcoming conflicts in the show.

What does Circe do with the Bride and Nina?

Last week's premiere saw the Bride and Nina be taken in by Circe after she tracked them down to Victor Frankenstein's castle. A fight broke out there with Circe coming on top and the episode ended on a cliffhanger as an injured Nina and Bride lay on the floor. With the titular group themselves on the way, Creature Commandos episode 3 picks up right from that spot.

Instead of killing the Bride and Nina, Circe ties them up and leaves them, only for them to be discovered by the Creature Commandos. However, while Rick Flag Sr. wonders why Circe did this, he is reminded that Ilana Rostovic is left free at the castle and realizes that Circe used the Bride and Nina as a distraction.

This leads Rick Flag and the rest of the team to rush back to the castle as the Sons of Themyscira start attacking the Princess and her guards.

What is G.I. Robot's backstory?

Creature Commandos episode 3 also dives deep into G.I. Robot's backstory. Taking viewers back to his World War II days, the episode sees him as a part of the Easy Company where he interacts with Sgt. Rock and more. However, when the Easy Company is attacked by Nazis, G.I. Robot finally gets to save them and is accepted by them as one of their own.

However, years pass and G.I. Robot has no more Nazis left to kill and is rather used as a symbol of America's achievements in the war. He eventually ends up in the hands of Will Magnus who wants to study him and upgrade him while also creating more bots of his own. He then ends up in the hands of a World War II collector a few years later and becomes his friend.

Unfortunately, he takes G.I. Robot to a Nazi meeting in Creature Commandos episode 3 and reveals himself to be a Nazi as well. This leads to G.I. killing everyone at the meeting and being jailed for it.

G.I. Robot dies at the end

Back in the present, the team makes it back to the castle and gets into a firefight in Creature Commandos episode 3. After years of not being able to kill Nazis, G.I. Robot finally gets to do so and guns down a bunch of Sons of Themyscira, but as soon as Circe arrives on the location he is blown up to pieces. Circe then goes to kidnap Princess Ilana Rostovic, but Weasel makes it in time to save her.

He then starts ripping Circe to shreds with Dr. Phosphorus also joining the offensive as Flag Sr. looks over in horror. Nina grieves for G.I. Robot elsewhere. However, the episode ends with Circe claiming that the Creature Commandos have just doomed the planet.

What Circe's red herring at the end of the episode means remains unknown. But it certainly looks like some big developments are set to come next week when the show returns. As for now, it looks like Circe has been overpowered and there is a conspiracy at play.
