Prime Video’s Cross season 1 hit the platform on November 14, 2024, with all eight episodes made available at once for a binge-watching experience. The series, based on the character Alex Cross from James Patterson's best-selling novels, brings a fresh take on the detective and forensic psychologist.
Instead of sticking strictly to Patterson’s 32 novels, showrunner Ben Watkins, known for his work on Burn Notice and Hand of God, crafted an original story that still honors the core elements of Cross’s character.
The adaptation focuses on Alex Cross as he faces personal challenges while working to solve a series of staged murders in Washington, D.C. Following the murder of his wife, Cross juggles his career as a detective and role as a father, adding depth to his character.
Directed by Watkins and produced by Amazon Studios, Cross stars Aldis Hodge as Alex Cross, alongside a cast including Jennifer Wigmore, Mercedes de la Zerda and Ryan Eggold. The show has been renewed for a second season.

What is Cross Season 1 all about?
Cross Season 1 centers on Alex Cross, a forensic psychologist and detective in Washington, D.C., known for his deep understanding of criminal behavior. Cross is driven by both his professional commitment to justice and a personal vendetta after his wife’s recent murder.
The traumatic loss becomes a core part of his character as he goes through the challenges of single fatherhood while struggling with grief. He's raising his two children and trying to maintain a balance between his responsibilities as a father and his demanding work as a detective.
The plot follows Cross as he becomes involved in investigating a series of suspicious deaths that appear to be staged as accidents or suicides, making them difficult for law enforcement to connect.
These deaths aren't coincidental but part of a larger, orchestrated plan linked to a mysterious society. The show reveals this dark group, whose members are involved in disturbing and gruesome activities, but the full extent of their influence and intentions remains mostly hidden through the season.
Cross’s primary adversary in Season 1 is Ed Ramsey, played by Ryan Eggold, a villain with his own complex motivations and connections to the mysterious society. As Cross digs deeper, he uncovers unsettling truths about this secret network and how it operates.
The show also features a subplot with another detective on the Metro PD who's revealed to be involved with Ramsey. Despite these discoveries, plot twists arise that leave Cross struggling to identify all of Ramsey’s connections, creating additional obstacles to solving the case.
All eight episodes of Cross Season 1 are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
