The upcoming episode of Dateline on NBC is all set to take a look at the murder of Dana Dodd, who remained identified as Lavender Doe for years, and the subsequent murder of Felisha Pearson, which ultimately led to the killer who had brutally taken the lives of these two women.

Titled The Woman with No Name, and aptly so, the latest episode of Dateline covers this case in detail. The synopsis for the episode reads:

"When police are unable to identify a young murder victim, a dogged investigator employs the help of armchair detectives and new DNA technology to find her killer -- and her identity."

Both the women were killed by s*x offender Joseph Wayne Burnette, who managed to escape conviction after he murdered 21-year-old Dana Dodd. He was ultimately arrested in 2018 after he was suspected of killing Felisha Pearson, who was living with him during that time.

When he was ultimately arrested and questioned in connection to the murder of Pearson, he also confessed to the murder of Dana Dodd, effectively solving the decades-long case of the Lavender Doe.

Who was Felisha Pearson and what happened to her?

Born on August 16, 1989, Pearson was a resident of Longview, Texas, and had spent the majority of her life there. She was a tireless worker and was considered a top professional who tried to always do her best at her work and her family.

She married Joseph Pearson and had children with him. She juggled her household duties with many different jobs she took on during her life.

Later in her life, her marriage ended but she served as a dedicated mother to her daughters. By 2018, Felisha Pearson was living at the Contessa Inn. with a man named Joseph Wayne Burnette. During this time, she was reportedly working at a food establishment called Jesus Burger.

Though she was a person who did not open up to everyone, she was a very dedicated worker. So when she did not appear in her workplace for multiple days, it raised alarm bells. She was last seen alive on July 14, 2018. Around ten days later, her remains were found in a wooded area off West Birdsong Street in Longview, Texas.

The exact cause of her death was never publicly disclosed.

Who killed Felisha Pearson?

From the very beginning, authorities suspected the involvement of Joseph Wayne Burnette, who was living with her at the time. Moreover, the man did not really have the cleanest records with the law.

When authorities started looking at his background, they discovered that Burnette had a history of violence going back to 1994. He was a convicted s*x offender and was also a suspect in the 2006 murder of an unidentified 21-year-old woman, who was later revealed to be Dana Dodd. He was also wanted at the time for failing to register as a s*x offender.

He was soon arrested for this charge and when questioned, he finally admitted to killing Felisha Pearson. During the questioning, he also admitted to killing Dana Dodd, effectively solving a murder case that had dragged on for over a decade.

He remains incarcerated at the Michael Unit in Tennessee Colony, Texas.
