After 53-year-old Kenneth E. Juedes was found dead in his house in 2006, his second wife, Cindy Schulz-Juedes, was named a person of interest. However, the case went cold when the investigators couldn't find enough evidence to charge her. Nearly 13 years later, in 2019, Cindy was finally arrested on the charge of her husband's murder. She was convicted in October 2021 and incarcerated at the Taycheedan Correctional Institution in Wisconsin.

Cindy Schulz-Juedes, who was sentenced to life, was found unresponsive in her cell on July 19, 2023. The police discovered that her cellmate, Taylor L. Sanchez, had beaten Cindy to death.

Dateline: NBC is set to release an episode titled The Trouble at Dill Creek Farm on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 9 pm EST, exclusively on NBC. The official synopsis of the episode reads:

"When a pharmacist is found shot to death in his Wisconsin farmhouse, investigators embark on a 15 year hunt for his elusive killer."

Was Cindy Schulz-Juedes a suspect in Ken Juedes' murder?

Episode 9 of Season 31 of Dateline showcases the murder of Kenneth E. Jeudes, a pharmacist from Wisconsin. It follows the case as investigators start looking into it and it goes cold due to lack of enough evidence.

While the investigators were looking for possible suspects, they continuously hit dead ends, before finally narrowing the suspect list down to one person. Investigators suspected that Kenneth's second wife, Cindy Schulz-Juedes, had killed him.

Kenneth "Ken" Jeudes was found dead in his Maple Road home in Hull, Wisconsin, with two gunshot wounds to his back and chest on August 30, 2006. For the next 13 years, the police were working on figuring out who had killed the pharmacist.

At the time of his murder, Kenneth's wife, Cindy, was allegedly sleeping in a camper next to their house. She had reportedly returned to the house and found her husband dead. Investigators found a cryptic note pinned next to Ken with a kitchen knife. However, the murder weapon, a 20-guage shotgun was never recovered.

Cindy Schulz-Juedes was named the person of interest in the investigation. Detective Sean McCarthy of the Marathon County Sheriff's Department said that Cindy had been the person of interest since "the onset of the investigation" because she "clearly had [the] opportunity."

The detective added that another reason they believed it was her was that she had been near the crime scene on the night of the murder, which she had told them. He added that Cindy was the one who reported her husband's death after finding him in their home.

Investigators concluded that Cindy stood to gain financially if her husband died. While the investigation went on, Cindy offered a $25,000 reward for any information on the case.

Where is Cindy Schulz-Juedes now?

Although Cindy Schulz-Juedes was named as a person of interest in her husband's death, she wasn't charged with the murder until nearly 13 years later. She was arrested on November 27, 2019, and charged with the homicide of Ken Juedes along with obstruction of justice. According to Fox 11 News, Cindy was convicted in Marathon County for the murder charges in the 13-year-old cold case.

Cindy was found guilty of her husband's murder on October 26, 2021. Marathon County Circuit Judge Michael Moran sentenced Cindy to life in prison in June 2022. Cindy, who was incarcerated at Wisconsin's Taycheedan Correctional Institution, continued claiming her innocence even in prison.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Cindy Schulz-Juedes was sharing a cell with Taylor L. Sanchez. The then-27-year-old Sanchez was serving a two-year-long sentence for battery. She reportedly beat Cindy to death in their cell on July 19, 2023.

The Wausau Daily Herald reported that Sanchez landed close to 60 and 70 punches on her 68-year-old cellmate. Cindy Schulz-Juedes died after multiple injuries, lacerations, skull fractures, head trauma, and choking on her blood as well.

All the details of Ken Juedes' murder will be aired on Dateline's new episode releasing on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 9 pm EST.
