Dead Boy Detectives is coming to Netflix on April 25, 2024. The supernatural thriller is based on stories and characters based on comic books by DC Comics.
With Neil Gaiman as the writer, and Matt Wagner and Malcolm Jones III as the artists, the stories first arrived in April 1991 in DC's Vertigo Comics' The Sandman #25.
Dead Boy Detectives presents a detective duo, two dead children, who decided to stay on Earth to solve supernatural crimes rather than move to the afterlife.
The cast includes George Rexstrew and Jayden Revri in the lead roles of Edwin Payne and Charles Rowland respectively. Initially ordered by HBO Max, the show moved to Netflix in February 2023, as the storyline is not set in DC Universe and hence, incompatible with DC Studios' plans.
Dead Boy Detectives: Release date and time
The release date scheduled for the upcoming series is Thursday, April 25, 2024.
As most new shows arrive on the streaming platform at midnight PT, Dead Boy Detectives is also expected to drop at the same time. As such, the time to watch the show in some of the important regions is listed below.
What is the expected plot of Dead Boy Detectives?
The story arc is connected to The Sandman, as the two storylines belong to the same universe.
The story follows two boys, Edwin and Charles, who have interests similar to most boys such as games, adventures and mysteries, except that the two boys are dead. Edwin died in 1916, while Charles breathed his last in 1990.
Instead of moving on to the afterlife, the two boys choose to stay back as ghosts to solve many distressing mysteries. However, they have not understood the mystery of their own deaths.
The upcoming series will unravel the secret behind their deaths with the help of another character, Crystal, a girl expert in technology with a link to the undead.
The duo, with help from clairvoyant Crystal and her friend Niko, will traverse beyond boundaries from Japanese video games to present-day cities in search of answers. They will solve multiple cases in the process in the series.
The show will have eight episodes all arriving on Netflix on April 25, 2024. The cases covered in the episodes are listed here.
