Deon Cole: Ok, Mister is a Netflix stand-up comedy special that was released on Netflix this year. The special covers themes in Deon's style of observational comedy, with a major unifying one being Deon's advancing age, given that he's now 52.

When addressing the younger women in the audience, Deon made a joke about older men going after them by asking them how they're doing. He told the women to respond with "Okay, mister" if they wanted to get the men off their back. It's this joke that's the basis of the Netflix comedy special's title.

Dean Cole: Ok, Mister gets into a lot of detail about Deon Cole's dating and s*xual life as well as observations on how men, specifically Black men, act as their age catches up. As a result, the special could be relatable to people advancing through adulthood.

Deon Cole: Ok, Mister explores how the comedian has shifted his dating preferences as he has grown older.

Deon opening gags are descriptions of the type of women he doesn't f**k with anymore, like those who don't have a parking space in front of their houses, and those who are energetic enough to dance. He speaks of the latter as having "too much energy" for him as he feels pressured to physically exert himself in a way he's no longer used to.

Deon Cole has a very relaxed and deadpan style of delivery and relies more on the content of his observations to make his audience laugh. That doesn't mean he's not good with impressions, as it's easy to get a clear idea of what he means through his gestures and way of describing things.

Much of the comedy in Deon Cole: Ok, Mister also comes from poking holes in other people's ideas of strength, like when he makes fun of "strong Black women" and speaks out in favor of interracial dating by claiming that men like him aren't insecure about it at all.

Deon gets into pretty explicit detail about his s*x life, including how the nature of his intimate experiences has changed now. These include making jokes about preferring women with kids "because they'll leave", and that if he's cheating on anyone, he would take his illicit mistress to a "white establishment" where he won't be recognized.

While these jokes can seem like relatable observations or amusing insights, depending on one's familiarity with the Los Angeles Black community, people sensitive about infidelity and commitment phobia may not find it humorous.

Some of his comments drew considerable applause from the audience, like when he mentioned that he mostly wants to be with someone he can consider a friend.

The physical intimacy aspect may or may not work out, but as long as two people have shared interests, the relationship could be a healthy one. Going by the audience's reaction, Deon's message seemingly resonated with his audience.

Towards the end of Deon Cole: Ok, Mister, Deon took out a piece of paper that seemingly had a list of jokes to read out.

Most of them were in the vein of the kind of humor he had already banked on throughout the special. He even needled the audience with a joke about best friends never attending each other's funerals, and another about gay people that he refused to say in full, claiming it could get him "canceled".

At the end of Deon Cole: Ok, Mister, Deon Cole had a word of advice for the women in the crowd who seemed to exhort them to perform a certain s*xual favor for their men occasionally. But that could easily be read as a metaphor for valuing the little things in a relationship.

Deon Cole: Ok, Mister is a deadpan showcase of observational comedy that goes pretty deeply into adult subjects. People who have a tolerance for uncomfortable humor might find themselves amused and the jokes relatable. Others, though, might opt for more family-friendly fare.
