What happens in the Dexter: Original Sin season 1 premiere?
The first episode of the prequel series starts right after the events that Dexter: New Blood ended with. Shot by his son, a wounded Dexter is taken to the hospital, and the eponymous character of the series starts narrating his life’s tale along with flashbacks.
It starts in 1991, highlighting the steel-like nerves of a young Dexter who does not flinch while dissecting a corpse. He is a promising medical student at the University of Miami.
He tells his adoptive father, Harry, that dissecting mere corpses does not satisfy him. However, Harry prevents Dexter from making his first kill just yet. The opportunity arrives when Harry is hospitalized and it is revealed that Mary, his nurse, has been poisoning him.
It turns out that Mary has been doing this for a while, and she keeps the obituary papers of her victims as trophies. Taking Harry’s permission, Dexter makes Mary her first victim. The episode ends with Miami Metro approaching the talented med student with an internship opportunity.
What to expect from episodes 2 and 3?

Toward the end of the Dexter: Original Sin season 1 premiere, Harry’s colleagues from Miami Metro—Aaron Spencer, CSI Chief Tanya Martin, forensics specialist Vince Masuka, Detective Angel Batista, and Detective Bobby Watt—approach Dexter, whose impressive work on a serial killer has caught their attention.
By the end of the episode, Harry has taken Dexter to Miami Metro. Thus, episode 2 will show the inception of Dexter’s dual life, one as an apparent solver of crimes and the other as a serial killer.
