Prequel to Dexter: Resurrection

Showtime also announced a prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin. Hall will narrate this series, based on a young Dexter, portrayed by Patrick Gibson. The prequel, which takes place in the 1990s, will look at Dexter Morgan's formative years. The second part of the Dexter story, named as Original Sin, will air in December 2024.

In the dramatic finale of Dexter: New Blood, Chief Angela Bishop reveals Dexter Morgan's Bay Harbor Butcher past. She arrests him and informs Angel Batista that Dexter is alive and is a serial killer. Batista heads to Iron Lake, and Dexter kills Sgt. Logan to escape.

Dexter asks his son Harrison to flee with him. A conflicted Harrison shoots his father in the chest after learning that Dexter had killed Logan. Harrison gets money from Angela and is told to leave town. She fakes killing Dexter in self-defense. The series ends as Dexter dies in the cold, ending his turbulent life.

Release dates and future plans

Original Sin will debut in December 2024, and Resurrection will premiere in the summer of 2025.
