Mark Hamill, the original voice of the Joker, has recently made headlines regarding a DC controversy. Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths, a three-part animated superhero film, has created a buzz among DC Comics fans. Released sequentially throughout 2024, the series is based on the iconic 1985–1986 comic book plot by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez.

The adaptation brings together the Justice League to face a universe-shattering crisis involving multiple dimensions and several DC characters. For fans eager to binge-watch this action-packed series, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths is available on online streaming platforms along with Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray.

Contrary to what many fans anticipated, Mark Hamill was not the initial voice of the Joker in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part Three. An oversight in production led to the accidental inclusion of a temporary voice track instead of Hamill's performance, causing major confusion among viewers.

In the eagerly anticipated release of Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part Three, fans were thrilled at the announcement that Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill would reunite as Batman and the Joker respectively. The reunion was also special as it marked one of Conroy's final performances before his demise in 2022.

The scene was designed to mimic the iconic animation style of Batman: The Animated Series, providing a nostalgic callback to the original 1992 cartoon where both actors first voiced these legendary characters.

But excitement turned to confusion during the scene featuring the Joker. Although the character's distinctive cadence was present, the vocal quality seemed off. Initial assumption attributed this discrepancy to possible changes in Hamill's voice after decades of portraying the Joker. This was supported by the film's credits listing Mark as the voice behind the Joker, leading viewers to dismiss any doubts.

The truth emerged later that the voice heard by viewers was not Mark Hamill's but a temporary vocal track. In filmmaking, temp tracks are often used during the editing process as placeholders until final recordings are inserted.

In this case, due to an oversight in production, the temp track was accidentally retained in the final cut distributed for digital and physical release. The error went undetected by the production team initially, leading to the release of a version that did not feature Mark Hamill's intended performance.

Warner Bros. acknowledged the mistake following fan inquiries and confusion. They issued a statement explaining that due to a "manufacturing issue", the temporary voiceover was inadvertently left in the final version of the film. The company took immediate action to rectify the error by updating digital versions of the movie and offering replacements for physical copies through customer support.

This incident is not isolated within the voice acting community, because similar occurrences have happened in other productions, such as X-Men '97, where a voice actor was discredited, pointing out a broader issue of recognition and respect for voice actors.
