Why is Catherine being targeted on Disclaimer season 1?

By the end of Disclaimer Season 1, episode 2, it is apparent that Catherine receives some sort of target from somebody with intimate knowledge about her life. The mysterious book she received seems to replay events from decades ago when Catherine was involved in a tragic incident. However, to what extent she really gets involved in the tragic incident is a mystery that remains unknown.

She is torn between making things work and all these contradictory elements as she tries in desperation to put the pieces of everything together, making the audience wonder who knows these secrets and what his motive is. The final scenes of these opening episodes propose that whatever has been hidden within Catherine's history will be the key to unlocking her crisis.

Scenes of imagery suggest it is something monstrous, and it seems clear she has worked long years trying to entrench such experiences. However, the book is published, and someone decides to bring the dark into the light. Now, all that remains is the question: Why now, and what do they hope to gain in bringing this out?

Who is responsible for the book?

In Disclaimer Season 1, episodes 1 and 2, Catherine attempts to figure out who the book's author is and their final plan. The novelist did not identify himself, making things even more mysterious. Catherine makes some disturbing discoveries while investigating the origins of the book, but at the end of episode 2, she is no closer to discovering who might be behind the story.

As she digs in, Catherine assumes that the killer has to be a person from her past, possibly a former colleague or acquaintance in Disclaimer Season 1. Then there are suspects piling up across lists and underlings with secrets of their own. Every revelation brings new doubts; ultimately, Catherine can't tell whom she can trust.

What will Catherine do next on Disclaimer Season 1?

At the end of Disclaimer Season 1 Episode 2, Catherine lives in confusion and paranoia, as there is no clear answer about who's behind the book or why they're targeting her. Does she need to dig up her past, or does she have to keep her focus on burying it, hoping that the situation will resolve itself?

Meanwhile, her personal life is about to unravel as those around her start questioning her integrity and her version of events. Catherine's future choice is whether to face what she has realized about her past and its implications or lose everything she has built.

The last scenes in Disclaimer Season 1, Episode 2 suggest that, after all the happenings, maybe she has little else to do but confront her demons. As the suspense continues to unfold, the audience is kept on its toes, wanting to know what Catherine's next step will be and how deep the conspiracy against her is.
