Outer Banks season 3 proved challenging for the fan-favorite couple John B (played by Chase Stokes) and Sarah Cameron (played by Madelyn Cline) as their relationship and bond was tested during the season, leaving viewers on an emotional roller-coaster.
Personal issues exploded into a rift between the couple, forcing them to face their problems without the support of the other. Sarah, for her part, was coming to terms with father Ward coming back, and without John B by her side, she found solace in the arms of her ex, Topper (played by Austin North), and Sarah ended up cheating on John B with her ex-boyfriend.

Sarah Cameron cheated on John B in Outer Banks season 3
In the Outer Banks season 3 episode 6, titled "The Dark Forest," Madelyn Cline's Sarah Cameron makes a decision that is way out of character for her. After a fight with Chase Stoke's John B, her boyfriend who was essentially her "home," about things he kept from her, she leaves without a place to stay.
She eventually returned to Figure Eight, where she found her ex-boyfriend, Topper. With nowhere else to go and no other friends could give her shelter, Topper offered to take Sarah to a party where their old friends were hanging out.
Topper shows her a good time at the party and treats her like a princess. During a romantic moment together, Sarah and Topper share a kiss and decide to spend a night on the beach. Regretfully, she owned up to her mistake and told her boyfriend about what happened, leading to John B beating Topper in retaliation.
While she regrets what happened with her and Topper in the end, it doesn't change the fact that Sarah cheated on John B as the two have never officially broken up in the series. All seasons of the show are currently streaming on Netflix.
Did Sarah and John B work their issues out at the end of Outer Banks season 3?
Sarah and John B have reconciled by the end of Outer Banks season 3. When John B learned about Sarah cheating with Topper, they got into a fight, which left Austin North's Topper unconscious, and John B carted off to jail.
Topper wants to press assault charges against John B, and he asked Sarah to testify against her boyfriend in the case. However, Sarah's supporting her boyfriend this time. Not only did she not agree to testify, but she also sweet-talked and charmed her ex to drop the charges.
With the chaos of the events beforehand, Sarah thought about what she really wanted. Ultimately, she chooses to follow her heart, leading her to work on her issues and reconcile with her boyfriend. For his part, John B was quick to accept Sarah back into his arms even after she cheated on him.
With their relationship sorted, the very much-in-love couple went on adventures where they discovered the gold in El Dorado.
