DreamWorks Animation's Home: Full list of characters and their voice cast

DreamWorks Animation's animated science fiction comedy film Home premiered at the Boulder International Film Festival on March 7, 2015. After receiving success at the festival, the film was released theatrically on March 27, 2015, in the United States.

The plot for Home was slightly inspired by The True Meaning of Smekday, a 2007 children's book by Adam Rex. The screenplay was written by Tom J. Astle and Matt Emberhe with direction handled by Tim Johnson. It was produced by Mireille Soria, Suzanne Buirgy, and Chris Jenkins and distributed by 20th Century Fox.

The film comprised an all-star cast of voice actors, including Jim Parsons, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, and Steve Martin. Matt Jones, Frank Welker, and Brian Stepanek also participated in the cast.

Jim Parsons as Oh

Jim Parsons' character in Home is called Oh, and he is a Boov outcast. Oh's personality is something that most would consider outgoing and extrovert-like. He is overenthusiastic and has no qualms about speaking his mind.

Jim Parsons is one of the most prominent names in television. His portrayal of theoretical physicist Sheldon Cooper in the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory is considered one of television's most convincing portrayals of all time by fans.

His role in the show earned him several accolades, including Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards. Besides The Big Bang Theory, Parsons also garnered appreciation for his roles in the HBO movie The Normal Heart (2011) and the Netflix series Hollywood (2020).

Rihanna as Tip Tucci

Rihanna voices the character of Tip Tucci in Home. Tip is outgoing, funky, and usually suspicious of new people. In the beginning, she was suspicious of Oh as well, but later, she warmed up to him. Over the course of the movie, they become best friends.

Rihanna is a singer, songwriter, actor, and business owner. Although she initially started as a singer, over the years, she has learned to wear several hats. Some of Rihanna's most popular songs include Umbrella, Rude Boy, and Work. She has also worked as a songwriter on some of these songs.

Steve Martin as Captain Smek

Steve Martin plays Captain Smek in the movie. He also goes by another name, DJ Smek. He is the leader of the Boov race of which Jim Parsons' Oh is a member. In the film, Smek primarily features as the main antagonist. He is best known for his escapist nature.

Steve Martin was most recently seen in Only Murders in the Building (2021) with Selena Gomez and Martin Short. Besides this, the actor was also part of projects like The Jerk (1979), Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (1982), and Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987).

Jennifer Lopez as Lucy Tucci

Jennifer Lopez features as Lucy Tucci, Tip Tucci's mother, in Home. She is a loving and caring mother who gets separated from her daughter very early on in the movie. She is also the owner of Garbage, a Boov cuisine restaurant in Chicago.

Jennifer Lopez is an actress, singer, dancer, and businesswoman. As an actor, she is best known for her work in The Wedding Planner (2001), Maid in Manhattan (2002), and Monster-in-Law (2005).

Outside of films, she is a global popstar with hits like Love Don't Cost a Thing, Jenny from the Block, and On the Floor to her name.

Matt Jones as Kyle

Matt Jones plays Kyle in the animated movie. Kyle is a Boov police officer who is responsible for keeping order among the Boov race. Oh and Kyle have a complicated relationship throughout the movie.

In the beginning, Oh is seen pursuing Kyle to be friends with him. However, before that could happen properly, Smek summoned Kyle to chase after Oh. But all ends well for the duo, as they eventually become good friends.

Frank Welker as Pig

Frank Welker lends his voice to Pig's character in DreamWorks Animation's Home. Pig is Tip's pet cat, who is a Japanese bobtail. He is extremely cuddly and cute. Both Tip and Oh love playing with him.

Welker is a renowned voice artist who has lent his voice to several successful characters in movies such as The Transformers: The Movie(1986), Super Mario Bros.(1993), and Alice in Wonderland(2010).

Brian Stepanek as the Gorg Commander

Brian Stepanek plays the Gorg Commander, the leader and father of the Gorg in Home. He is one of the main antagonists in the movie alongside Captain Smek. In addition to lending his voice to Gorg Commander's character, he has also lent his voice to other characters depicted in the movie.

The actor was previously in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (2005-2008), Brian O'Brian (2008), and Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn (2014-2018).

"When Oh, a loveable misfit from another planet, lands on Earth and finds himself on the run from his own people, he forms an unlikely friendship with an adventurous girl named Tip who is on a quest of her own.
