English Teacher is the upcoming project helmed by Brian Jordan Alvarez. This FX comedy series will premiere on September 2, 2024, with its first two episodes, shortly after which it will be available on Hulu.
The official synopsis of the upcoming show on Hulu reads:
“FX’s English Teacher stars Brian Jordan Alvarez as “Evan Marquez,” a high school teacher in Austin, Texas, who often finds himself at the intersection of the personal, professional and political aspects of working at a high school.”
It continues:
“Evan wants to be a principled person but often runs into trouble because of it.”

English Teacher: Release date and episodes
Deadline reported on November 16, 2023 that FX had contacted Alvarez for the comedy series. The official website of FX has announced that the series will premiere on September 2, 2024, on FX, shortly after which it will be available for streaming on Hulu.
The series will have 8 episodes in total. However, the full list of release dates for each episode is not yet available from official sources.

English Teacher: Tentative plot
FX Networks released the trailer of the series on August 6, 2024. In it, Alvarez is seen as a new teacher joining a school and tackling particularly contemporary cultural issues like gender and race. The task is made difficult by the fact that he is in charge of overseeing the education of a group of teenage students who take time to adjust to his methods.
The series will also portray the various friendships Evan (Alvarez) makes along the way in his job. However, his sexuality is exposed at one point, and this lands him in trouble at work.
Apart from the various adventures Evan has to go through, thanks to his job, the series also shows his genuine passion for it. As he states in the trailer, he likes to think that he is meaningfully contributing to the growth of the students.
English Teacher: Cast and crew
Created by Brian Jordan Alvarez, the series is executive produced by Alvarez, Paul Simms (Atlanta and What We Do in the Shadows), Jonathan Krisel (Baskets, Portlandia), and Dave King (Parks and Recreation, The Good Place).
Alvarez also stars as the titular teacher. Nick Grad, FX Entertainment’s President, told Deadline:
“Brian is an incredibly talented writer, actor and creator who has fully delivered on his vision for English Teacher.”
