Meijer's foray into the fertility industry began in 2007, driven by a desire to help infertile couples. His lack of chronic or genetic diseases made him an appealing donor, leading him to register with multiple sperm banks and clinics worldwide. Additionally, he reached out to prospective parents through social media, offering private donations.

The sheer number of children fathered by Meijer can be attributed to his extensive involvement with various sperm banks and fertility clinics. He registered with 11 different clinics and also contributed to the Danish sperm bank Cryos, one of the largest in the world. By diversifying his donations across numerous institutions and engaging directly with prospective parents online, Meijer was able to maximize his reach.

However, Meijer's activities quickly surpassed legal limits. In the Netherlands, sperm donors are restricted to fathering no more than 25 children to mitigate the risk of accidental incest. Meijer significantly exceeded this limit, with investigations revealing he had fathered over 100 children in the Netherlands alone, not including private donations.

Despite being banned from further donations, he continued under different names, expanding his genetic legacy to many other countries.
