The Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23 2024 was packed with a flurry of announcements about upcoming films, TV series, and even stage productions. Fans were treated with early looks at some of the most anticipated projects, including Avatar 3, Incredibles 3, The Mandalorian & Grogu, to mention but a few.

The event also featured surprise appearances by celebrities such as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Auli'i Cravalho, and Jeff Bridges and performances of songs from the upcoming movies Moana 2 and Mufasa: The Lion King. Here's a detailed readout of the major announcements.


Breakdown of the D23 2024 Disney Entertainment Showcase

1) Moana 2: A New Adventure

Fans were thrilled by the announcement of Moana 2. The new trailer gave a glimpse of Moana's quest to meet up with Maui amid a new stormy threat. The movie is set to be released on November 27, 2024.


2) Disney Monster Jam

Dwayne Johnson announced a new live-action project titled Monster Jam, based on monster trucks. While details about the project were limited, Johnson's enthusiasm was enough to energize the audience in the room.


3) Avatar 3: Fire and Ash

James Cameron revealed the official title for the upcoming Avatar sequel, Avatar: Fire and Ash. While no footage was shown, fans did get a peek at some stunning-looking concept art. This film is expected to hit theaters on December 19, 2025.


4) New Pixar Series: Dream Productions and Win or Lose

Pixar announced two series, with the first being a spin-off to Inside Out, titled Dream Productions, and the second being an original series from Pixar, Win or Lose. Both shows are expected to premiere in December 2024.


5) Toy Story 5 is coming

Fans of the Toy Story franchise can look forward to Toy Story 5. This film, under the direction of Andrew Stanton, will show the toys going up against a gang of rogue Buzz Lightyears and their electronic plaything. The film is expected to be released by summer 2026.


6) Hoppers: A new Pixar movie

Pixar also announced a brand-new original film titled Hoppers, starring Jon Hamm, Bobby Moynihan, and Piper Curda. Hoppers is set to release in spring 2026.


7) Elio: New footage and casting

Another Pixar film, Elio, gained buzz with Zoe Saldana joining Bill Hader in the cast. An exclusive trailer was shown to the audience. The movie is scheduled to premiere on June 13, 2025.


8) Incredibles 3 confirmed

Pixar has officially confirmed that Incredibles 3 is in the works, directed by Brad Bird. Fans will have to wait for more details about the highly anticipated sequel.


9) Zootopia 2

A first look at Zootopia 2 introduces Gary the Viper. The sequel, set in a semi-aquatic neighborhood named Marsh Market, is slated for release on November 26, 2025.


10) Frozen 3 and beyond

The concept art for Frozen 3 was released, teasing that there could now even be a shot at breaking this franchise into a fourth movie. Frozen 3 is reportedly projected for a 2027 release.


11) Star Wars: Skeleton Crew trailer

The first trailer for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, starring Jude Law, was released. The series will debut on Disney+ with a two-episode premiere on December 3, 2024.


12) Andor season 2: Sneak peek

Diego Luna pulled the curtain back on Andor season 2, which will cover four years. The new season is scheduled to debut in 2025.


13) The Mandalorian & Grogu: Early footage

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni showed some of the early footage from The Mandalorian & Grogu, giving the audience a first glimpse of what Grogu could look like in Mandalorian armor. The movie is slated to be released on May 22, 2026.


14) Ironheart: First look

Ryan Coogler presented new footage from the Ironheart series, which follows Riri Williams at MIT. Debuting in 2025, the series will introduce a new villain played by Anthony Ramos.


15) Daredevil: Born Again

Scenes from Daredevil: Born Again were shown, where Matt Murdock faces Kingpin and The Punisher. The show will premiere on Disney+ in March 2025.


16) Agatha: All Along trailer

A new trailer for Agatha: All Along, featuring Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza, has been released. The series will explore the events following WandaVision and is set to debut on September 18, 2024.


17) Percy Jackson season 2 teaser

Fans also got a first look at Percy Jackson season 2, which will follow the Sea of Monsters storyline. A release date has not been announced yet.


18) David Blaine: Do Not Attempt

Magician David Blaine announced that Hulu and Disney+ will stream his upcoming National Geographic series, David Blaine: Do Not Attempt, in 2025. The series will feature death-defying stunts performed by Blaine around the world.


19) Freakier Friday: First look

Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis revealed Freakier Friday, a sequel to the classic Freaky Friday. The first images from the film were shown, and it is set for a 2025 release.


20) Live-action Lilo & Stitch

The first look of the live-action Lilo & Stitch was also revealed, showing Stitch's new design. The movie is set to release in the summer of 2025.


21) Live-action Snow White trailer

The entertainment showcase released a trailer for its live-action Snow White, starring Rachel Zegler. The movie also features Gal Gadot rumbling towards the cinema. The film is set to debut on March 21, 2025.


22) Tron: Ares footage

The Tron: Ares cast previewed music by Nine Inch Nails with some first looks at the film. The movie is expected to be released sometime in 2025.


23) Mufasa: The Lion King trailer

The panel concluded with a first-look trailer for Mufasa: The Lion King, covering the relationship between Mufasa and Scar. The movie is expected to release on December 20, 2024.


Additionally, Disney announced that Frozen: The Broadway Musical, Hercules, and The Greatest Showman are getting stage adaptations. Frozen is set to stream on Disney+ in 2025, while Hercules will premiere in London's West End in the summer of 2025.
