The Day of the Jackal concluded season 1 with its finale on December 12, 2024. The show's various elements have continued to intrigue its fans, including the weapons and guns used in the storyline.

Disclaimer: This article contains minor spoilers for The Day of the Jackal.

Being an assassin who relied primarily on guns to get him out of scrapes and complete his missions, the Jackal had an arsenal of weapons. Many of his arms were even customized to suit his needs, such as the sniper he mounted on a gimbal or a gun that could be dismantled and hidden as a pneumatic walker.

This article explores all the types of guns featured in the show's first season, with snippets of their inclusion in the plot.

All the guns featured in The Day of the Jackal season 1, with their plot significance explained

1) Sniper Rifles

The sniper rifles featured in The Day of the Jackal season 1 were the most interesting and diverse. Given that these were the Jackal's preferred weapons, he used a wide variety of them in different missions and scenes.

Some of the guns featured were Heckler & Koch, Remington Socom, and Karabiners. The Jackal mainly used these in his army days in Afghanistan, where he was a part of the sniper unit.

However, the Jackal's custom sniper rifles stole the spotlight on the show. In the first episode, the audience is introduced to his custom long-range rifle, which can be disassembled and carried in his briefcase to make a speedy exit. In episode 9, the same gun made another appearance when the Jackal mounted it on a gimbal to stabilize it on a boat. It was used as an innovative rig to assassinate Ulle Dag Charles (UDC).

Another one of the sniper rifles that caught the audience's attention was the custom-printed 3D rifle that could be concealed as a pneumatic walker boot. The Jackal had the gun commissioned from Norman Stoke's workshop and hid it in his medical fracture boot. He set it up in the vents of the Tallinn concert hall before his failed attempt on UDC.

2) Assault Rifles

Another rifle variant featured in season 1 of the show was assault rifles like Heckler & Koch, SIG-Saucer, AKMS, Colt Canada, and Magpul Masada. Though they did not have any unique customizations like the sniper rifles, they were the weapons that saw the most action on the field.

These guns were carried by security personnel and agents alike, including Bianca and Vince. During the flashback scenes to Jackal's past, many soldiers in the army unit were also seen carrying assault rifles while charging into their target base in Afghanistan.

3) Revolvers

The one significant revolver featured in the show was a Chiappa Rhino, carried by Norman Stoke. Though the revolver only appeared in two episodes for brief scenes where Stoke used it for target practice, the gun left a visual impact. Its pearl grips and gold plating made for an aesthetic addition to the screen, compensating for its lack of use in the storyline.

4) Pistols

Pistols were a common feature in the arsenal of weaponry on The Day of the Jackal. Many characters on screen were seen carrying different variants: Glocks, SIG-Sauer, Browning, Smith & Wesson, Springfield Armory, FNX, Beretta, Springfield, and Umarex HDRs.

Pistols were a common and almost regular feature on the show, with little flourishes or embellishments. However, they proved useful to escape sticky situations in the storyline. The Jackal often resorted to a quick pistol gunshot to escape an unforeseen problem. Other characters like Bianca, Vince, and multiple police officers also carried and used pistols.

5) Submachine Guns

Submachine guns like Heckler & Koch, CZ Scorpion, and Brügger & Thomet also featured extensively on screen. However, these were mainly used by patrol officers and bodyguards, resulting in their lower ranking on this list.

These guns were mainly used during episode 9, when most guards in UDC's home were armed with them. But the weapons did not match the Jackal's inventive sniper shooting skills.

6) Shotguns

Shotguns like the Serbu Super Shorty and a double-barrelled shotgun were the main weapons that appeared in the storyline. The Jackal used a double-barrelled shotgun once, after including it as a preventive security measure in one of his disguises. Mostly, security guards at airports and checkpoints were armed with shotguns as well.

7) Others

The show also featured other miscellaneous guns and weapons on a surface level for a few brief stills. There were multiple rifles and precision weapons in Norman Stokes' gun workshop, including machine guns like the FN Mag and taser varieties like the X26. However, these weapons remained sheathed and were never in use.
