The Acolyte episode 5 introduced viewers to a new Sith Lord, a very dangerous dark side user, who fights against a whole group of Jedi Knights by himself after he killed Kelnacca, the Wookiee Jedi Master who was hiding on the forest planet Khofar. Except for the action and adventure in the episode, there are quite a few interesting connections and similarities with other parts of the Star Wars world.

The Acolyte episode 5: Major easter egg
1) Force healing
In The Acolyte episode 5 ending scene, Qimir, Mae’s shadowy dark side teacher, uses the Force to heal an unconscious Osha. Force healing was first seen in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Rey heals a severely injured Kylo Ren after a dangerous fight and that power once again ties The Acolyte episode 5 to one of the key abilities first introduced in the sequels. With this power, Mae wondered why the dark side isn’t used more often. But it wasn't enough.
2) Dejarik or holochess
Close to The Acolyte episode 5 ends, as Osha, disguised by covering her face walks with Master Sol and passes by two people playing a low-tech version of Dejarik. Dejarik, a popular Holo chess game, first appeared in the Star Wars movie in 1977.
With this nostalgic wink, The Acolyte episode 5 reminds us that the new series has a connection to classic elements of Star Wars, how enduring these iconic games are, or what their place is in galaxy culture.
3) Jedi recruitment of children as soldiers
In The Acolyte episode 5 when Master Sol’s padawan, Jecki Lon, dies in their duel against Qimir, Sol angrily blames Qimir. The warrior replies that it was Sol’s fault to bring a young girl into a fight in the first place.
This line gives long-time Star Wars fans flashbacks from earlier installments like The Clone Wars, where more children than just Anakin Skywalker are trained and go to war.
Mother Aniseya expressed similar sentiments to Qimir in Episode 3, accusing the Jedi of stealing children and turning them into soldiers.
4) The “They’ve turned you against me” line
In The Acolyte, episode 5, when Mae and Osha reunite, Mae tells Osha that the Jedi brainwashed her and turned her against Mae. This is a direct reference to a moment in 'Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith' when Darth Vader screams at Obi-Wan Kenobi after choking Padmé, stating he has turned her against him.
This line serves as a powerful callback to the tragic fall of Anakin Skywalker, leading to emotional and psychological manipulation of the Sith’s tactics.
5) An “X-Men” reference
When Master Sol demands that Mae’s master remove his helmet, he refuses, saying that Sol could read his mind if he took it off. This isn’t something viewers have seen directly in Star Wars stories before The Acolyte episode 5, but it’s a nod to the X-Men universe where Magneto wears a helmet to prevent Charles Xavier from reading his thoughts.
It’s a reference that adds another layer of connection with other pop culture worlds and how they handle mind reading and mental defense.
6) Kylo Ren’s theme
As Qimir heals an unconscious Osha and speaks to her near the end of the episode with the theme of Kylo Ren from the Star Wars sequel trilogy, it hints at just how deep and complicated dark side powers are.
This subtle musical cue connects Qimir's actions to those of Kylo Ren, hinting at the deep and complex nature of dark side powers. The use of this theme in The Acolyte, episode 5, underscores the continuity within the Star Wars saga, linking characters across different timelines through their shared connection to the dark side.
7) The “You are no Jedi” line
In The Acolyte episode 5, when Master Sol sees Qimir holding a Jedi lightsaber, he says,
“You carry a Jedi weapon, but you are no Jedi.”
This moment resembles what Ahsoka Tano said while fighting with Darth Vader in Star Wars Rebels.
“I am no Jedi,” in response to Vader’s statement that “revenge is not the Jedi way.”
These lines highlight the difference between those who follow the Jedi path and those who use their weapons for darker purposes. It also highlights the difference between being a Jedi by name and truly following the Jedi principles.
