Chris Rock's long-awaited animated revival series, Everybody Still Hates Chris Season 1, is set for a September 25, 2024 release. There is a lot to get excited about in the new series, like Rock's tongue-in-cheek storytelling as he returns as the narrator. Tichina Arnold and Terry Crews will also reprise their roles as the parents.
Everybody Still Hates Chris season 1 follows the titular character's life as a kid living in Brooklyn, New York, in the 1980s. It follows the events of the OG sitcom Everybody Hates Chris and will feature the young boy's struggle for attention, being the oldest child of a popular younger brother and a rambunctious little sister.
Besides the OG cast returning for their roles, newcomers will add to the wackiness and the animated series. Pacific Rim Uprising's Tim Johnson Jr. joins that cast as the new voice for Chris.
When will Everybody Still Hates Chris season 1 release?
Everybody Still Hates Chris season 1 premieres on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Two episodes are expected to debut on the premiere day, with two new episodes scheduled to come out every Wednesday until the season finale, per the show's IMDb page.
Where to watch Everybody Still Hates Chris season 1
Chris Rock's latest animated series will be available for streaming via Comedy Central on the release day. Everybody Still Hates Chris season 1 is expected to debut on Paramount+ at a later date.
The OG animated sitcom used to air on UPN, which no longer exists. Interested viewers can stream the previous four seasons of Everybody Hates Chris via Paramount+ with a subscription while waiting for the animated revival's release.
Voice cast and character in the animated series
Although the revival series will change its medium from live-action to animation, not everything about the new sitcom is different. Chris Rock returns to the animated comedy series as the narrator, and joining him are Terry Crews and Tichina Arnold, who will voice Chris' parents, Julius and Rochelle.
But because Tyler James Williams is too old to voice Chris in the animated series, Pacific Rim Uprising star Tim Johnson Jr. will take on the role instead. Below is the confirmed voice cast and characters in the animated revival:
- Tim Johnson Jr. as Chris
- Terry Crews as Julius, Chris' father
- Tichina Arnold as Rochelle, Chris' mother
- Chris Rock as the narrator
- Ozioma Akagha as Tanya, Chris' younger sister

What is Everybody Still Hates Chris season 1 all about?
The cleverly titled animated revival is a continuation of the original series called Everybody Hates Chris that went off the air in 2009 after four seasons. Its storyline has no drastic changes from the OG sitcom, where everybody appears to still hate Chris, and the young boy still starves for attention being the middle child.
Comedy Central released the full trailer for the series ahead of its release date, and it reintroduces Chris and his struggles as the odd one in both his family and the community. In the first scene of the trailer, the family of five reunites, with Chris telling everyone that he's "a grown man," which left everyone laughing out loud.
Talking about what the series will be all about, Chris Rock narrates:
"It's about me growing up in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn in the 80s and I've got more stories to tell about my family and the whole d*mn neighborhood."
