Evil season 4 episode 12, titled “Fear of the Other,” was released on Thursday, August 8, 2024. In one way, it can be said that the latest installment has invoked significant fear among fans, and that's the fear of none but themselves.
Although not a very common trope, in the horror genre, the evil doppelganger threat has always been a powerful and unsettling concept. Despite the trio being relieved from their jobs as assessors forever, they still had time to kill and took on the case of Paul, who was convinced he was being haunted by his evil doppelganger.
The episode also focused on other major areas, including the fate of the Church, Leland’s court hearing, and Kristen’s financial crisis. One of the most unsettling moments in the episode was Leslie’s unexpected and horrific exit from the show, just as the final draws near, in a way no one could have anticipated.
Read on to learn what happened to Leslie and other major highlights.

Evil season 4 episode 12: Why did the judge kill Leslie?
Although there’s no outright answer for why the judge killed Leslie, after he nodded while looking at Stick, it was apparent that The 60 took care of his pocket.
Henry Stick or the “Evil that’s coming to New York,” wasn’t a good attorney to start with, and even Leland found it difficult to trust someone who was unprofessional and had no charm.
For Stick, the only way to gain Leland’s trust was by showing his true self, but his demonic aura fell short when it came to instilling fear in others like Boggs and Leslie.
The judge had already made a deal with Stick to exonerate Leland but needed to confirm if Leslie would forfeit testifying against Leland. Surprisingly, she mustered up courage and was ready to face anything head-on that came her way, but unfortunately, she was beheaded by the judge in one fell swoop.
Leslie's body was later dumped in a garbage container. Her death was an unfortunate and brutal end for someone who had displayed immense bravery.

Evil season 4 episode 12: Was Paul Jr. possessed?
To find your doppelganger is simply a miracle, but seeing them die a painful death is not lesser than a horrifying nightmare, and that was something that instilled a deep-seated fear in Paul.
Paul found out about his doppelganger named Gregory on some social media platform where he had been keeping tabs on him, until the day when the latter committed suicide online by setting himself ablaze.
Surprisingly, Paul was the son of Sister Andrea’s childhood love interest, Paul Sr. who later committed suicide, which left her with nothing but guilt.
Sister Andrea confessed at the confession box that she counted herself as a sinner for straying away Paul Sr. from the path of God by abandoning him. But David consoled her and reminded her that forgiveness and redemption are always possible.
When the time came for exorcism, it was pretty apparent that Paul Jr. was possessed by a demon, and it was not Gregory. Although the physical appearance of the demon wasn’t showcased, Sister Andrea confronted the entity a couple of times by simply relying on her genius.

Evil season 4 episode 12: Is the Arch Diocese selling the Church
With the devastating news of the Assessment program being terminated, the Arch Diocese was not done, as it also made up its mind to sell the Church effective immediately.
David tried to convince the council by proposing a deal where a company wanted to buy the air rights of the establishment to build an additional 20 floors to their headquarters. Although that would help the parish’s financial situation, the council proclaimed to deconsecrate five churches, including St. Joseph, for a whopping $45 million.
Given the Arch Diocese’s decision is absolute, David is helpless and can’t do much. Maybe Emily’s prophecy of David leaving the priesthood, as witnessed in episode 11 of season 4 is now taking shape.
