A piece of news related to an upcoming Beetlejuice animated adaptation has been making rounds on the internet. The report stated that the new show is scheduled to arrive on HBO Max in January next year. However, the claim has been proven to be false.
The report emerged out of a post shared on a Facebook page titled Yoda Bby Aby on August 25. It included a poster of the show, titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice The Animated Series, which also featured the cartoon versions of the two lead characters. Apart from adding a release date for the show, the post also stated:
"Stephen Ouimette, Alyson Court, Tabitha St. Germain, and Elizabeth Hanna return to reprise their iconic roles, joined by Jenna Ortega as the voice of Astrid Deetz in this thrilling continuation where Beetlejuice, Lydia, and her daring daughter Astris stir up chaos between the living and the dead."
The comments section of the post was flooded with different reactions, with netizens recalling the animated series, also titled Beetlejuice, that aired in 1989. A few people even believed the news to be true, with one person stating that he would add the show to his watchlist on HBO Max.
However, the news is not true since the bio of the Facebook page says that they focus on satirical news. Various other shows have fallen victim to the rumors from this page and they even claimed last month that a crossover special of The Batman and The Conjuring was arriving in October 2024.
The timeline of the page is full of other claims, including a new Back to the Future film alongside a new season of The Acolyte premiering in 2026. Notably, the latter has been canceled by the producers this month due to a mixed response from the audience.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is arriving on the big screen next month: Popcorn buckets launched for the audience
The upcoming sequel to the 1988 horror comedy has created a lot of headlines considering that the main leads of the first film are returning to reprise their roles. Meanwhile, the producers have already locked a release date of September 6, 2024, and the official trailer came out a month ago.
On the other hand, the makers are using a common strategy to pull audiences to the big screen by launching collectible popcorn buckets. The process has been followed by many other films this year.
AMC Theatres also made an official announcement of the same through Instagram with a video that shows that the bucket is based on the 'Handbook for the Recently Deceased,' used in both films.
A separate bucket is being launched at Regal Cinemas and the design resembles the Sandworm that appeared in the first film. The worm wraps around the bucket like a coil and the head appears on top. Furthermore, there is a collectible container with the same design that could be turned upside down to add popcorn. A release date for the collectibles has yet to be announced.
Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder will return to portray their characters from the first film along with Catherine O'Hara. Ryder also opened up on her role as she spoke to SlashFilm on August 22, saying that she never thought Lydia Deetz to have any children. She revealed how things changed during filming and added:
"I think once we got there, and once Jenna and I bonded, and once Justin [Theroux] came on board […] I mean, I think everyone who's as old as I am now, we've all been in those things where you're just like, What was I thinking, in terms of the relationship I have?"
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice features some new entries among the cast members such as Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Willem Dafoe, and Monica Bellucci. It is helmed by Tim Burton, who also directed the first film.
