The neo-western drama television series Territory released on Netflix on October 24, 2024. The show features the likes of Anna Torv, Michael Dorman, Robert Taylor and Sam Corlett in pivotal roles.
The plot chronicles Marianne Station, known as the largest cattle station that has been in the hands of the Lawson family for generations. However, following a battle for succession within the family, the property became highly sought after by cattle farmers, gangsters, Indigenous elders and mining tycoons, leading to complications.
After the show released, many were curious about whether the Marianne Station shown in Territory is a real place. Unfortunately, the location doesn't exist in reality.

Marriane Station in the Territory series isn't a real place
The entire storyline of Netflix's recently released Territory series centred around the Marriane Station, which was the main subject of dispute among members of the Lawson family and a few outsiders.
As mentioned earlier, some thought that Marriane Station existed, but this is not true. However, there was a station involved in the movie but isn't named Marriane in reality. The site represented as Marianne Station in the series is Tipperary Station, which is a real operating cattle station, similar to Marianne.
On September 20, 2023, Ben Davies, the co-creator of the show, told Inside Film Magazine that 140 of 180 crew members stayed at the station during the filming process.
"It’s a monumental effort by production to pull this off in such a remote place," he said. "In terms of infrastructure and scale, this cattle property is unmatched anywhere else in the world, so fortunately it can accommodate our large cast and crew."
He added:
"And with the team living here, we’re capturing remarkably authentic images that, when matched with powerful storytelling, encapsulate the world we’re looking to share, not just locally but globally as well.”
Besides Tipperary Station, where else was Territory filmed?
As previously mentioned, major chunks of the show were filmed at Tipperary Station, which served as the location for the fictional Marriane Station.
Other locations used for filming of the series included Kakadu National Park. Both Tipperary Station and Kakadu National Park are situated in the Northern Territory of Australia.
Parts of the show were also filmed in Mallala, a small town situated on the Adelaide Plains.
Who are the actors featured in Territory?
As previously mentioned, the primary cast of the show comprises Anna Torv (of Mindhunter and The Last of Us fame), Michael Dorman ( of Suburban Mayhem and Patriot fame), Robert Taylor (of Longmire and The Meg fame) and Sam Corlett (of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Vikings: Valhalla fame).
