What happens in FBI season 7 episode 4?

In the latest episode of the series, a masked attacker assaults a young woman named Melanie in her apartment at night. She is able to ward him off after showing him the FBI badge that is kept beside her bed.

Melanie is the sister of Sydney Ortiz, an efficient agent who works at the FBI as a profiler. When the local authorities do not take up the case of the assault, Ortiz takes it straight up to SAC Isobel, who opens the case, and an investigation ensues.

As the investigation goes on, it is discovered that as many as 17 women in New York were assaulted by the same perpetrator in the same manner over the past few years. A deeper probe into the matter leads the team to a person named Roy, who abducts young women, takes them to the basement of an apartment complex of which he is the super, s*xually assaults them, and then escorts them back to their respective homes.

Worryingly, Ortiz bumps into Roy without knowing that he is the culprit. He ties her up and threatens her with a gun. However, Ortiz tells him that he has hurt many women, whether he acknowledges it or not.

Since Roy sees himself as a chivalrous man, this statement affects him deeply. Sobbing, he kills himself with the gun. Later on in episode 4 of FBI season 7, Isobel asks Ortiz to stay on as she will again use her in the field. The episode ends with Ortiz joining Maggie, OA, and Scola for a drink.
