FBI season 7 episode 8 starts with a shootout
Several gunmen are seen invading an airport as the episode opens. They steal a cargo that is carrying gold bullion worth 25 million dollars. Before they can leave, a brutal shootout ensues in which several federal agents are killed, necessitating the involvement of the FBI in the case.
As Agents OA, Maggie, Scola, and Ortiz arrive at the scene, they talk to Danny Chun, who is in charge of the cargo. Chun informs the agents that the secret shipment is coming from Switzerland. Scola asks him to share the details of everyone who knew about the shipment.
Chun’s information leads the FBI team to Caleb Boyles. When he is brought in for questioning, Boyles denies any knowledge of the secret shipment and says that Chun never consulted with him regarding the same. However, the agents, especially Jubal, are convinced that Second Point Capital, the firm in charge of the cargo, had someone on the inside who orchestrated this job.

The case gets more complicated
Thanks to the tech team’s efficiency, one of the gunmen is spotted. His name is Samuel Baptiste, a member of a rebel Haitian group who has his name on Interpol. The agents find out that his group has been trying to topple the Haitian government and the 25 million dollars would help their case immensely.
Halfway into FBI season 7 episode 8, the agents track down Baptiste’s car’s location, and together with a team, they raid the place. Upon their arrival, the agents find several dead bodies across the floor of the house. Incidentally, Chun’s body is one of them, proving that he was involved in the robbery all along.
However, as the special agents try to reconstruct the crime scene, OA figures out that Clay Voss was present at the scene somehow.

Clay Voss enters the picture
OA confronts his friend, who denies having killed Baptiste and the others. Voss works in the field of corporate espionage, and he tells OA that Second Point Capital contacted Pyramid Securities to solve the case of the robbery.
Maggie cautions OA against talking to Clay off the book. OA, however, is confident that his friend can help them. As the investigation progresses, several police officers are found to have been involved in the crime. In fact, it is the Suffolk County cops who killed Baptiste and the others and fled with the gold.
By bringing in the partner of one of the officers, the FBI agents are able to track them down. Isobel, taking OA’s cue, sends Voss to them undercover, as a potential client. Clay plays his part well but things take a bad turn soon.

Clay faces off against OA
OA owes his life to Clay because when he was in a life-threatening position in Afghanistan, Clay went out of his way to help him. Thus, when Clay is engaged in talking to the cops, OA is always cautious to ensure that no harm comes his friend's way.
However, Clay has plans of his own. He tricks the cops into taking him to the gold and then tries to flee with it. He asks OA to let him walk away since 25 million dollars would enable him to retire. OA, however, refuses, and putting his profession and sense of justice before his emotion, shoots Clay when the latter gets aggressive.
At the end of FBI season 7 episode 8, the motive of the cops becomes clear. Their pension fund was invested into Second Point Capital, which the company ended up losing completely. Thus, as revenge, the cops decided to rob their shipment and take back what they considered was theirs.
