What happens in FBI season 7 episode 1?
The synopsis for the premiere of season 7, titled Abandoned, reads:
“The assassination of a Brooklyn plumber launches the team into an investigation that ruffles feathers with the CIA.”
The episode opens with the murder of Tariq Amini, who is killed by several highly trained assassins when he is on his way to work. Subsequently, Cyrus, his close friend, and Nadia and Sarah, his wife and daughter, respectively, are also targeted, with Cyrus being killed right in front of Special Agents Tiffany and Scola.
As the episode progresses, Nadia reveals to Maggie and Zidan that in 2005, the CIA contacted her, Tariq, and Cyrus. In exchange for killing a member of the Iranian Secret Police, they were offered citizenship in the USA. The trio did it and left Tehran for good.
The CIA, however, wants to wash its hands of the high-profile assassination now, and in a bid to erase its link to the same, tries to eliminate the trio and their family members.
Maggie, figuring this out, sends Nadia and Sarah to safe accommodation, thereby defying a direct order that required her to bring them in for an interrogation session conducted by the CIA.
As the episode closes, a cold CIA officer confronts an openly rebellious FBI team, with Maggie making it clear that she does not report to the officer.
