First trailer for Dexter prequel released, series begins December 13 on Paramount Plus

The awaited Dexter prequel named Original Sin was released on Thursday, September 12, 2024. The trailer provided a little peek into the much-awaited Dexter prequel, announced by Michael C. Hall and Patrick Gibson at the San Diego Comic-Con.

The Showtime original, in collaboration with Paramount Plus, will premiere on the streaming platform on Friday, December 13, 2024, and will air two days later. Clyde Phillips will make his return as the showrunner in Dexter: Original Sin after his success in the original first four seasons.

Set in the 1990s, the Dexter prequel will have ten episodes in its first season, narrating the transformation of a young student into a serial killer. Dexter: Original Sin is currently in production, primarily filming in Los Angeles. Michael C. Hall will return to the series to narrate the inner voice of young Dexter.

Dexter: Original Sin will take the viewers back to Miami in the 1990s, where it all started. Patrick Gibson plays the role of young Dexter Morgan, a student who struggles with his massive urge for bloodlust.

As a young kid, he saw his mother brutally murdered, which imbibed into him neurotic tendencies. He was adopted by Harry Morgan, a Miami police officer who understood the dark side of his son. Morgan initiated Dexter's training to harness his inner demons for tracking down and eliminating criminals evading the law.

The prequel will portray the journey of a serial killer who learns to change his ways and use them to help people. Viewers will see the early days of young Dexter as he joins the Miami Metro Police Department as a forensic intern.
