Robert Hansen, also popularly known as the Butcher Baker, was a baker by day and a killer by night. In his 75 years of life, he molested, murdered, and kidnapped more than a dozen females. However, in 1983, his rampage had to stop when Cindy Paulson made a run for her life and revealed to the world the Butcher's identity.
Later that year, he was arrested and sentenced to life for multiple murders, thefts, arson, and tons of other charges. In 2014, he passed away at the Creek Correctional Center, while serving his sentence, as reported by The New York Times.

Five chilling details about Butcher Baker's crimes
1) Butcher Baker kept a map to record his kills
As previously demonstrated in The Butcher Baker: Mind of a Monster (2020), when the police broke into Hansen's home in 1983, they discovered a map that showed them where all the dead ladies Robert had murdered were. Despite his claims to have killed over thirty women, the authorities were able to recover seventeen dead bodies thanks to the X-marked map.
How did he handle the remaining ones? Now, with Jansen dead, we will never know if he actually killed over thirty women or if he was just making up stories. This map also demonstrates how a lunatic relished recording his killings and had no regrets about eliminating lives.
2) Robert was a dangerous predator
The Butcher Baker would kidnap prostitutes by offering them money, then transport them to a remote cabin where he would se*ually assault them. He would later strip his captives naked and demand that they flee. Once they were out of his sight, Robert used to hunt them down with his rifle and knife and kill them with brutality. He enjoyed murdering in a way that was more akin to a game.
He gave his prisoners hope to escape rather than an easy death, even though he knew in the back of his mind that he would eventually find them again and kill them.
3) An assassin behind an ordinary man's mask
Hansen's traumatic upbringing had left him a guy with low self-esteem from the beginning. After growing up, he opened his bakery. Even though everyone in the town assumed Hansen was a baker who enjoyed hunting, his true passion was abusing and killing women, primarily prostitutes as previously shown in The Butcher Baker: Mind of a Monster (2020).
By day, he was a baker, and by night, a killer. This example serves as a reminder of how evil can lurk in plain sight, therefore we should constantly exercise caution before putting our trust in others.
4) Cindy Paulson's revelations about Robert Hansen were scarring
As previously shown in The Butcher Baker: Mind of a Monster (2020), Cindy Paulson said that Hansen first sexually assaulted her after taking her hostage, and he then took a short break. He promised Cindy that he would take her to his cabin so they could make love as he stood up. But as Jansen got out of the car and started working on his plan, Cindy was able to get away.
Cindy later told the authorities about the entire affair, and Jansen was taken into custody. Cindy's words reveal to us what a merciless and deceitful creature Hansen was. After torturing her for the first time, he rested while she was in agony so he could rape her once again. To what number of women has he also done the same? Cindy was alive to testify, but the other seventeen women, most of whom were murdered by the Butcher Baker, whose bodies were found, will never be told.
5) The Butcher Baker burnt down a school bus garage for nothing
As previously shown in The Butcher Baker: Mind of a Monster (2020), Robert has always detested school since he was tormented there. He set a school bus garage on fire in 1960 and was subsequently detained and accused of arson. He had lied to his wife about being involved in the same, but she had filed for divorce once he was detained. Even as a married man, Robert was unable to move past his difficult upbringing and took revenge by setting a school bus garage on fire.
