The November 2006 murder of the Denver businessman and philanthropist, John Paul Kelso, led to a high-profile pursuit of the suspect, Timothy Boham. As the robbery went wrong, Kelso was found with bullet wounds in his bathtub by his housekeeper on November 13, 2006. The second episode of Lethally Blonde looks into the gruesome details of Kelso's murder case.

Five details of John Paul Kelso's murder explored

1) Timothy Boham was a successful model in his initial years

Timothy Boham entered modeling as he was featured on the cover page of the November 2002 edition of LPI Media's magazine. He went on to work as an actor featuring in a dozen movies during 2004-2005 under the alias of Marcus Allen.

Boham's physical relationship with John Paul Kelso began in 2005 when he was paid for an encounter, per The Denver Post. Boham briefly worked in Kelso's debt collection agency based out of Denver, Professional Recovery Systems.

2) John Paul Kelso had a history of federal offenses

John Paul Kelso had co-founded Professional Recovery Systems in 1996 and was working as the President of the company at the time of his murder. According to The Denver Post report, John Paul Kelso had filed for bankruptcy four times and also had a history of federal offenses.

Kelso had been arrested for the illegal use of credit cards in 1988, shoplifting in 1989, and suspicion of fraud in 1990. Kelso reportedly had bought his house in the upscale neighborhood of Congress Park for $462,000 in 1999 - when he had filed his fourth bankruptcy.

3) Boham shot Kelso over the money he allegedly kept in his safe

According to Timothy Boham's testimony, John Paul Kelso had paid Boham for an encounter. A taped interview with Boham revealed that he was disgusted with Kelso and had intended to rob him of the money he allegedly stored inside the safe.

Boham expected to get his hands on an amount between $100,000 and $400,000 and wished to take his girlfriend on a trip to South America. Denver Detective Aaron Lopez testified,

“Boham went into the bathroom, came out, put a gun to his (Kelso’s) head and demanded he open his safe.”

Boham testified to misfiring the gun during the struggle that ensued between Kelso and Boham when he asked for the combination of the safe. Per The Denver Post, the bullet hit his head and passed through the floor to land in the basement.

4) Boham reportedly cleaned the crime scene and staged it to look like s*icide

Timothy Boham reportedly came back to the crime scene multiple times before Kelso's body was found by his housekeeper. Boham cleaned all fingerprints and evidence and dragged John Paul Kelso's body to the bathtub. He removed clothing, bedding, and other items including a shell casing, and threw them into the Cherry Creek.
