Five key details about Kelsey Berreth's murder explored

1) Kelsey Berreth went missing on November 22, 2018

Kelsey Berreth was last seen with her one-year-old daughter Kaylee at a local supermarket at noon on Thanksgiving 2018. Kelsey bought items for a sweet potato casserole at the local Safeway and texted her fiancé, Patrick Frazee, about the same.

The 29-year-old later met her fiancé, Patrick Frazee, who was picking up their daughter. Frazee told the investigators that he and Kelsey had been separated while Kaylee was living with him.

Kelsey's mother, Cheryl Berreth, reported her missing after being unable to reach her over calls or texts for more than a week.

2) Kelsey's cellphone records suggested was in Idaho

The investigation into Kelsey Berreth's disappearance began as a missing person's case. The authorities searched Kelsey's condominium and her vehicles at Woodland Park but found nothing suspicious. However, her cellphone records showed multiple text messages dated after November 22, 2018, four days after she was last seen.

According to NBC News, Kelsey's phone pinged to a tower in Gooding, Idaho, which was 800 miles away from her home in Colorado, on November 25.

The police also discovered that Kelsey's fiancé had fabricated the texts that Kelsey had allegedly sent to him after Thanksgiving.

3) The authorities found evidence of blood and bleach

The investigators found incriminating evidence inside Kelsey's Woodland Park home that led them to suspect Patrick Frazee. They recovered a bottle of bleach and a mop from the home, which tested positive for blood evidence.

The officers from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation searched Frazee's phone and found out about his affair with Krystal Lee Kenney. Krystal, who was a former rodeo queen and senior nurse, lived close to the place where Kelsey's phone had pinged in Idaho.

4) The confession by Patrick's girlfriend, Krystal Lee Kenney, led to Patrick's conviction

Kenney proved to be a key person in the case, as she helped the investigators solve the case and convict Patrick Frazee. Krystal confessed to Patrick's intention to kill Kelsey. She told investigators that Patrick had allegedly confessed to her about Kelsey being abusive to Kaylee. He also allegedly asked Krystal to poison her coffee.

Krystal took a plea deal for tampering with evidence and testified against Patrick in his trial. She led the investigators to the burn pit on Patrick's ranch and revealed that Patrick killed Kelsey by beating her with a baseball bat.

5) Patrick Frazee was sentenced to life and 156 years in prison

Armed with an overwhelming amount of evidence, Patrick Frazee was charged with Kelsey Berreth's murder and arrested on December 21, 2018, at his ranch. He pleaded not guilty and stood trial, wherein Krystal testified against him. A jury found him guilty of all eight charges and sentenced him to life in prison with no parole.

Per CNN, District Court Judge Scott Sells said that his crimes deserved "the absolute maximum punishment."

Patrick received an additional 156 years for the other charges and is presently incarcerated at the Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility.
