George Lopez, the American stand-up comedian and actor, walked off stage at his latest comedy show after hecklers in the audience continuously interrupted him. On Friday, June 7, 2024, the 63-year-old comedian left his set 30 minutes early.

His representatives have called out the Eagle Mountain Casino for the mismanagement. A spokesperson for Lopez blamed the venue in a statement to the New York Post on Monday, saying:

"It’s the venue or casino’s job to provide a good experience for both the artist and the fans, but the casino failed in this regard. The audience was overserved and unruly, and the casino staff was unable to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for the artist and guests."

The comedian's team was responding to a Facebook post by Eagle Mountain Casino that claimed Lopez let down his fans.

George Lopez's team slams casino where he ended the sold-out show early

George Lopez was performing his comedy set at the Eagle Mountain Casino in Porterville when he walked off stage due to persistent hecklers. His team blamed the venue and said that the exit was due to an "unruly" crowd that made him feel "unsafe."

On Friday, the venue had called out George Lopez in a now-deleted statement on Facebook. They claimed it was unnecessary for the actor to leave the show early. The representatives of the venue stated:

"Tonight George Lopez let down his fans and sold out audience by walking out and ending his show 30 minutes early. He could have provided us an opportunity to allow our security and team to escort any hecklers out since his own private security did not. George decided to not continue with the show and leave."

In response, George Lopez's representatives shared a statement with The New York Post. They claimed it was the venue's job to provide a safe environment for the comedian. The statement added:

"George’s personal security team worked with the venue security staff to maintain order, ensure safety, and eject disruptive individuals. Unfortunately, the casino security team was not adequate to accomplish this task. George is not obligated to perform in an unsafe environment. He feels badly that those who came to see the show were unable to do so as a result."

George Lopez had previously canceled the original performance on April 20, 2024, due to a medical emergency. He later agreed to make up for the cancellation by showing up on Friday night instead.

In a press release on their website, the venue's representative talked about the latest statement by the comedian's team. They asserted that the claims of "unruly guests are not consistent with casino footage and surveillance."

The casino's assistant manager, Tiffani Sahagun, added:

"While we did see guests yelling out, we see recordings showing those saying 'we love you,' 'can we buy you a drink,' etc. We also know that at a comedy show, there are also likely some outbursts that casino security would have been happy to address had any issue been made known."

The casino further insisted that George Lopez and his team had not informed them of any disruptions before the sudden departure. The manager also said that two other comedians who performed before him had no concerns or issues at the time.
