Grotesquerie season 1 returns with another double-header, with episodes 8 and 9 dropping at once next Wednesday, October 23, 2024. The new episodes are expected to clarify the massive twist that happened in episode 7.
Previously, in Grotesquerie season 1, detective Lois Tryon receives accolades from her peers after killing the suspected Mr. Grotesquerie. The man she shot at the end of episode 6 turned out to be Father Charlie, who now everyone believes is the killer. However, her life is still in danger. She sees herself in a violent fight with Sister Megan, with the latter repeatedly stabbing her.
In a turn of events, everything that happened from the beginning of the series is, in fact, only Lois' dreams. She's in a coma, not Marshall, and she's about to be taken off life support. While Lois wakes up by the end of episode 7, the revelation of an alternate reality in Grotesquerie season 1 has left fans questioning what's real or not. Episodes 8 and 9 are anticipated to have answers to questions from the previous episode.

A brief recap of Grotesquerie season 1 episode 7
The seventh episode of Grotesquerie season 1 brought a massive twist that no one expected. The episode is titled Unplugged, which is both literal and metaphorical, at least in detective Lois' concern.
Episode 7 starts with the subtle reveal that Father Charlie was the masked man, who Lois killed in the cliffhanger ending of episode 6. Everyone thinks that she has solved the murder cases, but Lois thinks that there's more to uncover. She then has a conversation with the now-healed Sister Megan in Lois' home.
Piecing together evidence and clues, Lois accuses Sister Megan of being in cahoots with Father Charlie to do the murders. While the nun denies everything at first, she later realizes that Lois is onto her. She screamed "Blasphemy" before attacking Lois with the kitchen knife. Lois and Sister Megan get into a violent fight until Megan repeatedly stabs the almost lifeless Lois, and then the episode shocks viewers with an alternate reality.
This time, Lois is the one in a coma, not Marshall. She's also an adulterer, having an affair with Eddie Laclan, who is Merritt's husband. Sister Megan isn't a nun anymore but a detective like Lois and Father Charlie is not a priest but a doctor. Marshall is still cheating with Redd, who is not a nurse anymore.
Marshall also wants to take Lois off of life support, the same thing Lois did to Marshall in the other reality. However, while Marshall died, Lois lives at the end of episode 7. She wakes up from a coma even after she is taken off life support, shocking everyone in the room.
What to expect in Grotesquerie season 1 episode 8 & 9
After the massive twist in episode 7 of Grotesquerie, viewers are holding their breaths, waiting for what's coming next for Lois and the rest of the Grotesquerie cast and characters in the coming episodes.
Following the unexpected twist, including Lois waking up from a coma, episode 8 is anticipated to give a closer look at the show's new reality. It teases a reset for the entire show, as familiar characters will now have different roles to play. The one-liner logline also teases the detective accepting "the help of a specialist."
On the other hand, the ninth episode is expected to further clarify what Grotesquerie's new reality means for the detective. It's unknown if she remembers all the events of the previous episodes that happened in her dreams or if those events have some sort of significance in her new reality.
Catch the eighth and ninth episodes of Grotesquerie season 1 next Wednesday live on FX at 10 pm ET or the next day on Hulu.
