Grotesquerie season 1 episodes 5 and 6 will make a back-to-back release next Wednesday, October 9, 2024, on FX first, then Hulu. They bring Detective Lois Tryon a step closer to finding the killer who has been terrorizing the town with horrific murders, but someone from her past will shake things up.
Previously, in Grotesquerie season 1, a strange clue—coordinates from the wooden box found in one of the murder scenes in the series premiere—brought the detective and Sister Megan to a town that resembles the gateway to the underworld. A massive firepit that is growing by the day appears where the coordinates are pointing to.

A brief recap of Grotesquerie season 1 episode 4
After the stitched-up dismembered body in Grostesquerie season 1 episode 3, Detective Lois continued to scramble for clues about the serial killer in the fourth episode. She found unlikely help from her daughter, who solved the wooden box puzzle, where there was a tiny piece of paper with written coordinates inside.
Detective Lois asked Sister Megan's help to find the coordinates' location, so they went on a drive. They spent the drive belting out their rendition of I Don't Know How to Love Him, but dread fell before them when they arrived at the specified location. It was a massive fire pit in the middle of nowhere. They described it as the pits of hell or the gateway to the underworld. It's growing wider by the day and might soon envelop the now ghost town.
As they attempted to find shelter, they met a man at the gas station who creepily told them that the only way out of the burning town was through the fire because it was too late to turn back now. As the detective and the nun drove in hopes of escaping the town, they almost crashed into a bloodied woman in the middle of the highway who told them that "He" was coming.

Episode 5's official logline promises a more concrete update on the murder cases that will bring Lois a step closer to the killer. Whether a new clue gets uncovered, someone else will help her, or one of Sister Megan's theories pan out is yet to be discovered in the next episode.
As for episode 6, it teases someone from Detective Lois' past coming into her life. Who that person is remains unknown, as well as their connection to the murders or whether they will help make the detective solve the crimes faster or derail the entire process.
